This glass was black but like the green as well or maybe better. But the green is not quite as common. Bourbon. I love it. For me, bourbon 🥃 over scotch any day ness 1 "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor

joeD Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 Bourbon over scotch. Is that a drink? Would ice mellow it out? Bushbeater 1

rps Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 About a year ago I read an article in Serious Eats about Martinis. I decided to try a few things contained in the article. After serious, in depth, study, may I suggest you try something? In a shaker half filled with ice, mix 1 part good vermouth (Cinzano Extra Dry, Noilly Prat, or Martini & Rossi - in my preferred order) with 2 parts good vodka or gin. Shake vigorously for 20 to 30 seconds. Pour into a suitable vessel and add a generous splash of Fee Brothers Orange Bitters. ness 1

The above is acceptable, but chocolate, apple, etc. needs to come up with a different name. John

Gavin Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 Usually swirl some vermouth in the glass and dicard. Add chilled vodka shaken, and a dash of Angostuta bitters, then olives. Bitters, make a gin & tonic allot better too. Tito's in Vodka, Hendrick's Gin. Forget what rum won the taste test on the trip last Summer. Pusser's Navy or the Pyrat. Both got emptied in short order.
ness Posted March 3, 2018 Author Posted March 3, 2018 I like a classic martini—gin or vodka—with the vermouth still in it. About a 3 to 1 ratio is right for me. Sounds snooty, but I like them shaken, not stirred. Gotta have it ice cold and I like the little ice slivers that you get from shaking. When I order them out I never know what I’m gonna get, so I’ve got a little spiel I go through. Gin, up, 3/1, not dirty, olives. Can’t make myself say shaken, not stirred. Went to a pretty nice restaurant recently and I told the waitress we wanted martinis, but laughed and said we had some instructions. Went through the drill and ordered one gin and one vodka. When she brought them back I asked which one is the gin? She raised them up to her nose and sniffed them to figure it out 😄 John
