Members Big_Jake Posted October 18, 2016 Members Posted October 18, 2016 I am going to put an order in on their website and it looks like they do a minimum of 4-dozen (which is fine). What color combo's and sizes would you all recommend? Looking forward to adding them to the arsenal and giving them a shot.
Terrierman Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 Hoo boy. I just ordered a new supply myself. 1/16 and 1/8. Same colors in each size. Black, black olive, tri olive, olive ginger with gold head, brown orange, tri olive gold head (I think) gray/white chrome head. If I were restricted to four dozen I would get 1/16 and 1/8 olive ginger with gold head and gray/white chrome head. I am 100% certain you will get conflicting advice. Quillback and Ham 2

Guest Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 Olive ginger, black olive, and tri olive have been working for me lately.

LittleRedFisherman Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 White, olive and ginger, and brown and orange are my 3 go to colors. I like tri olive and red and blacks as well at times. Ham and grizwilson 2 There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!
Ham Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 I love the concept of the shiney heads, but in a real world application my slapping the jig on the water to clean off grass often knocks the fur off the jig as well. The gold and Nickle heads work, but I'm better off leaving them for others. Oliver/Ginger, Brown/Orange, Triple Olive, White (racist), Black (liberal), Olive orange or Ginger/Orange. I still stick with all my previous comments about color selection. I do throw the 1/16 oz more after having taken beat downs from Richard when I thought that there was too much flow for the 1/16 oz. I was wrong, but I can admit when I am wrong and learn from my mistakes. Daryk Campbell Sr 1 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish

So is this Richard's new label for his white and black jigs? I think I'd wait till after the election and see who wins before making it permanent.
Members Big_Jake Posted October 24, 2016 Author Members Posted October 24, 2016 Fished at Cotter over the weekend and did some experimenting with what I bought at the Cotter Dock - Tri Olive and all Brown. I caught some fish on Brown but they liked Tri Olive much more it seemed. Also, on Saturday I was throwing them using 6lb line...again, I caught a few. Sunday I respooled to 4lb line and everything improved. I was really surprised at how much better it was. Casting distance, feel of the jig, etc... Sunday was my best day as I sort of honed in on the method. Lots of fun! I did better casting perpendicular to the boat vs down stream. Someone mentioned casting downstream to have less hangups. That proved to be true, just might need more time to get the feel for it. I had two 5 YO little girls fishing w me all weekend too. I would set the hook and let them reel'em in - THEY LOVED IT! The weather was perfect too! Terrierman 1
