Stump bumper Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 I have seen a lot of advertisements for cheap spinning reels with 10-14 BB lately. Walmart has a cyber Monday ad for them with no brand name attached, just YB4000, or 3000. Amazon has them for the same everyday price, I have seen people on Youtube taking them out of the boxes and showing them off but can't find any real reviews. Anyone tried these reels, looks like $20 and free shipping for a nice spinning reel, but then $20 for two trips would be a waste. Just wanting to get a review by someone I know fishes a lot.
fishinwrench Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 Now you've got me trying to figure out 14 places inside a spinning reel to put bearings. I'm at a loss. I can only think of a place for 6 at the most. Champ188 1
Stump bumper Posted December 8, 2016 Author Posted December 8, 2016 Well I ordered one from Walmart for $14 and free shipping it cam from IDS online out of NJ. No idea what that company is, but you can find these online for as little as $10 in places like WISH. Looks to be a good reel, a little more plastic than I like but seems everyone does that now. I will post more when I spool it and use it. It is a Yumoshi DF3500 and holds 190 yards of 10lb test. Champ188 1
Stump bumper Posted January 1, 2017 Author Posted January 1, 2017 Well have used this reel quite a bit, but not landed a big fish on it a five lb bass is about the biggest. I spooled it with 24 lb gliss braid. I don't know if it is the gliss or the reel but it throws 1/32 oz ned rigs further than my Mitchel with 8lb flouro or my Shimano with 10lb. I paired it with an ALL Star MH worm rod and it seems to be one of my favorite reels, have done some spooning with it and hung up bad and not one thing to complain about. We will see how it holds up, it is a little heavy but it is also a big reel. I am going to order another one. Anybody else have one they have used for awhile?
chi0082 Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 Most any reel at most any retail store is gonna be made in china. Some better than others, but mostly made from the same materials. I bought one awhile ago for $10 on ebay with no name and no model number or anything. Just a nice solid reel I use on occasion for crappie and white bass. It's been a few years now but it's still very smooth, no wobble, and casts just as well as any of my Daiwa Revros or Excelers. I haven't caught any big fish with it or done any serious cranking with it to test its robustness but just for dipping minnows or tossing small jigs for crappie on a small spinning outfit they are excellent reels.
JestersHK Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 Looks like its patterned off of the Quantum Energy series. Let us know how it holds up.
Flysmallie Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 As consumers we want our equipment to last forever. We demand quality. Manufacturers hear that demand and they deliver a quality product that lasts and lasts. But how can they survive like that. Imagine you sell milk. The milk you sell is expensive but one gallon lasts 10 years. In the beginning sales are great. Everybody wants what you are selling. But that isn’t a very good business model. Because once everyone has your milk then sales are going to suck until everybody needs more milk. So you introduce new and improved milk (with 1.2 million ball bearings). It’s basically the same milk but it lasts 15 years. And of course everyone has to have it because it’s the new thing and all the cool kids are doing it. So there we start the vicious cycle. We are not buying off of need as much as we are off of want. There is so much demand on manufacturer’s from both the consumer and investor side that they have no choice to keep improving and charging more. It’s the only way they can show growth in most cases. But I’m not innocent of any of this. When I fished a lot of tournaments I always had the best gear that you could buy. Always. And I just replaced a good working fly reel with another mostly because the new one would look better in pics. Yep, I’m that guy. Smalls21 1
Old plug Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 Here is a little secret most do not seem to understand both cheap or expensive most come from china and other Asian mations. Of course that goes for everything else. l bought a real nice chore coat at Menards last week for $36. lI believe it might be the best I have ever had. That price was 20 bucks or more under what other places were asking for anything even cloely compareable quality. It was made in Cambodia. Others ilooked at all came from that area. Wrench...... Asian people in my experience are great at minutuerizng thimg. I have know doubt they can get 14 at least in a tiny reel. Things like that will cost you a lot more if you need to have them repaired. Myself I cannot find any true use for all the crap they put in them now days. I see them up at Ed's. He is not thrilled with them either truth be told. Stumpy bumper...... I consider myself pretty extreme about fishing outside of the box. I use 20lb braid to skip wacky worms flukes and such. After many years of fishing I just got to ask you. What in heavens name are you fishing a 1/32 oz ned rig on 24 lb test braid for.

That gliss is not really braid and is as thin as 8lb test and was on sale, it was not an active choice of I am going to use this reel for ned rigs. It was more like I am going to use this reel all day and wanted to throw a ned rig. But I threw that little ned further on that sit up than any other I own, several times ending up 10 yards on shore with half the effort. It was the spoons that ruled the day and I usually don't use a spinning reel for spoons but I wanted a 20lb fish on that spinning reel to see how it would hold up with 50 yards being pulled thru the drag. Next time I will put a 6inch shad on it to see if I can get a big fish to give it a workout.
Dan the fisherman Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 I've been a wuss. No fishing for me in a while. But I've been training for a snow mountain climbing trip. Going to do MT Satsa in the snow. Already did MT Whitney ( highly peak in the lower 48). But trying to train for snow stuff. We'll see. How i do. I'll keep some pics coming.
