Tried a Daiwa Fuego 2500 this summer and I'm very happy with it. It replaced a Shimano Symetre which I was very unhappy with. I've used the Symetres for years but the one I got had an anti-back reel switch that was so small I couldn't find it, especially during the heat of battle, and the bail would intermittently not close after only 2 months of use.

The Fuego's have always been a nice reel (both baitcaster and spinning) in Daiwa's lineup. Looking at their spec's they are good value spinning reel from Daiwa.

I like Quantum Energy reels.  I put some miles on mine, and you can usually find them for under $100.  Have a PTi right now which just keeps going and going.  Great drag on them too.

On the recommendation of Super Dave I picked up a Daiwa Lexa last spring for Ned use and really liked it. So much in fact I ended up with two more. Cabelas's has them on sale for $69-$79.

First off the reels I mention are all at or under the $100 MSRP and may be found cheaper.

Daiwa Fuego as mentioned by others.  I have a prior model and it is great.

Daiwa BG right at $100 but really solid reel.

Plueger President,. This has been the number one selling spinning reel in the country the last few years and well under $100.

Plueger Arbor and Spreme both solid from what I hear.

Shimano NASCI and Sahara, I think with a little looking you can find one or both heavily discounted.

Really for $50 to $100 there are alot of good spinning reels by many makers.

Last year i bought a Shimano seadona 2500 for like 30 bucks, it was on sale 50% off and have had no problems with it and i do use it for crank baits.

I have one of Lew's Mach II Speed Spin reels in the 200 size. It is a very good reel from the little I've used it, much better than the previous Lew's spinning reels I've fished. MSRP is $79.99.

I bought two Pfleuger Presidents a few months back and couldn't be happier with them. If not for the littering aspect, I'd throw the two Lew's spinners they replaced overboard just for the satisfaction of watching the pieces of junk sink. I'm all about Lew's casting reels but it'll take a lot of convincing before I ever try another one of their egg beaters.
