If not for the littering aspect, I'd throw the two Lew's spinners they replaced overboard just for the satisfaction of watching the pieces of junk sink. I'm all about Lew's casting reels but it'll take a lot of convincing before I ever try another one of their egg beaters. In fairness, I will say that my Lew's spinning reels were bought several years ago when Lew's was first starting back up. They were not the cheapos, though. I gave $79 each for them. In no particular order, my main complaints were: Line twist was just awful. Main drive gear stripped out of one of them within 6 months and the other one started sounding (and feeling) like a thrashing machine with less than a year's use.
snagged in outlet 3 Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 I never could catch a limited edition president in stock.

Pfleuger president or the limited edition President Okuma Trio HS Mitchell 308 Pro BPS Carbonlite Daiwa Exceller Lew's Mach1- tackle warehouse has it on sale ABU Orra S I'd narrow that down to just 2 then. The President or the Exceller. Exceller for me.
Old plug Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 I like the president. The bail return system seems to be better. Most reels will the bail return system will fails with heavy use to fast to suit me. Champ188 1

CM How much use do they get??? I can fo thru a bail spring on one of those in not over a 2 yrs period.
snagged in outlet 3 Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 I flip mine closed manually. It's second nature now. Years ago I had a spinning reel with a broken bail return and I just lived with it. abkeenan and Smalls21 2

Longball22 Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 I have an Abu Orra, not the S, that belongs at the bottom of the lake next to Champ's Lew's spinners. Not sure if they did any better with the Orra S, but there's my 2 cents.
MOPanfisher Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 I have been quite happy with my several Pfleuger Presidents, but also with my single Abu Soron or something, it is a beast. The presidents are fabulous for the price and I expected a year or two out of them but so far they are all going strong. Figured I would toss or give them away when they got too bad. I absolutely cannot stand a sticky, grindy, catchy spinning reel.
