Those are some studs. Congrats to the young man! And the old man too. ?

I still remember when my dad and I used go out all the time. He is now 75 and doesn't fish, but sure enjoys watching his grandson catch them.  I still enjoy fishing, but teaching my son and daughter is better than catching.  My 7 year old daughter is getting to be a pretty good hand at catching them also.  She needs to learn not to try to swing 14" crappie in with a 5 ft light spinning rod though.  I will need to get some photos of her on here.

I'm starting to see what happens with this aging process ... you keep buying new boats (a good thing) but you don't use them as much and you get funny-looking motors on them.:lol:

Are you using a broomstick putter or one of those as-seen-on-TV "miracle wedges" yet?

Aww, now that's just mean.  I think the new boats and the funny looking motors are kind of a "late life" crisis coping mechanism.  Especially when you're a guy that somehow completely skipped over the mid life crisis stage.  I never got around to obtaining my Vette convertible and leisure suits in my 40's so now I'm doomed to double down on the really old man stuff.  I've got about thirty "Keep Off The Lawn" signs scattered around my yard and I turn on the irrigation system whenever a Girl Scout shows up to sell cookies.  The paperboy gets no Christmas tip from me either - he's getting paid to do that job by God and nobody ever gave me a danged thing in my entire overworked/under appreciated life!

As for golf, I have a complete set of Perfect Clubs for woods (except for my 56" Hammer driver of course).  Irons are all custom made Stan Thompson Ginty models (with a proprietary space age shaft that's WAY better than graphite) and my putter is a replica of the one that Rodney Dangerfield used in Caddy Shack (I used to use a Billy Baroo but just outgrew it I guess).  I also possess a lifetime supply of Condor golf balls which, as everyone knows, are still the finest ever made.

As for the reference to broomstick putter's and "Miracle Wedges" I, sir,  am a purest and not one to submit to gimmicks and trickery regardless of circumstances!

And in regards to the aging process, you should be so lucky as to feel this old!

Thanks for the kind words though!

His biggest ever at just over 16"s.  I had to apologize to him for not gettin the tail in the one photo. Fingers were frozen. Off the water by 11:00. Love my job.ll

All fish were sent back to fight another day. Too cold to clean them.

I knew that would wake you up better than day-old chicory!

Just kidding. Mean it. Promise, I do. Well, except that those motors really are funny looking.

We seem to have similar taste in golf sticks. My irons are all McGregor Nicklaus Golden Bear forged tour blades of 1970s vintage. I tried some cavity backs once but scores in the 60s were coming so effortlessly that I did away with them before I lost every golf buddy I had, including Donna. I don't even recall what my woods are ... I quit carrying them because I can hit the Nicklaus 1-iron about 260 off the tee, which is pretty much all I need except for the occasional visit to Bethpage Black or Doral.

My putter is a Scotty Cameron that was once owned by Raymond Floyd but showed up on eBay one day. I got a certificate of authenticity from the seller, so I know it's the real McCoy.

Boy, it's gonna be a looooooooooooooong winter at this rate. LOL

Ahhh, the Bear forged tours - a classic if there ever was one.  However, I did prefer to have the bounce on the long irons reduced by 00.37 degrees - seemed to bring the ball flight down about a yard to a yard and a third.  Made all the difference in the world when playing in the wind.

I too, tried a set of Ping's once but found the game was suddenly so unchallenging that I started playing left handed.  When that wasn't enough I eliminated the backswing all together.  Choosing instead to simply flip the ball toward the target with my hands and wrists.  Still ridiculously easy so I went back to the butter knife irons rather than just giving up the game altogether.  A guy has to have something else to do rather than fishing and tending to ones harem after all.

Nice catch on the Ray Floyd Scotty - the certificate obviously clinches the whole deal as a steal regardless of price!  Potentially more rare than the elusive original Bobby Jones' Calamity Jane!

Man, are you ever right about winter!
