MOPanfisher Posted December 24, 2016 Posted December 24, 2016 Jig and a crankbait. But I will admit that to me, neds, grubs etc. are simply jigs rigged differently or fished differently.

I use it in the same places I throw a shakey head. It's great to throw around docks or cast out and reel it through suspended fish at a given depth. Plus you can put worms, craws, grubs, swimbaits or tiny flukes on it. There have been tournaments won fishing it shallow. I believe the Wood cup at Ouchita was won by a drop shot in an area with mud bottom with brush and lay downs. Good bait It sure is versital. I use 1 oz sinkers on mine and 0/5 and 0/6 hooks. just goes to show you they have a large range as well. Sore Thumbs 1
jim m Posted December 24, 2016 Author Posted December 24, 2016 I've never fished a drop shot rig, sounds like a trip with nothing but a drop shot rig is in order because if I have a rod with a jig on it, it will be in my hands in short order
Old plug Posted December 24, 2016 Posted December 24, 2016 You need to practice if you want to do the things that Thumbs is doing with his.
Members Tom Ryan Posted December 28, 2016 Members Posted December 28, 2016 Jig and jerkbait (weighted for different depths) for me.
abkeenan Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 Just now, Tom Ryan said: Jig and jerkbait (weighted for different depths) for me. Hard to beat that combo. Just think a spinnerbait is more versatile than the jerkbait. With the trash that is in Table Rock a sinking jerkbait down past 10 feet usually doesn't last too long on the end of a line.
