What I am taking away from this post is that all of these lures are crank-baits with two treble hooks and I should throw something else to avoid losing my bait.

At least a bait you like. There have to be dozens of grubs, tubes, shakey heads, etc., for every one hard bait lost.

Dave answered that for you. I like them because they are silent. Fishing ultra clear water you don't always need a noise making machine like most plastic cranks produced these days.

I also have a lot of balsa bees from their hay days, mid 80's through mid 90's hot bait. Killer bee 2 my favorite in bleeding shad. Still got lots of balsa bees and poes left from them days. May have to get them back in action.

People love the balsa stuff but I never did get into it. Couple things I don't like is that it's a fragile wood and so light that it makes casting difficult. Plus they charge an arm and a leg now for hand made balsa baits.

Super hard to beat that Killr B2, shallow lip, around wood. Prices are through the roof on them now. Can almost pull it by lay downs like a stickbait. Will catch them when the hard charging square bills won't. I have a serious stash of that one.

Haven't bought one in15-20 years so don't know price of them now. They are very light and mostly used spinning tackle to throw them like smithwick rogues.

You've got a serious stash of every bait ever made.

What about a "Lazy Ike"?  My father told me that back when he was younger his favorite lure was a Lazy Ike. Of course he only fished farm ponds and sand pits in Nebraska but swears it was a fish catching machine.

Any thoughts?

Oh, how I wish that were true. Should have seen me tearing things up a couple of days ago looking for a P70 I know I have tucked away.
