Kayser Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 After spending entirely too much time in school, I graduated and accepted a job in northern Indiana. I'll be moving up there Sunday, and starting the week after. Not much for flowing water up that way, but I'm taking some fly gear just in case. I'm going to miss the fishing, hunting, and general accessibility to incredible outdoor opportunities around Rolla that I probably took for granted. But I'm going to miss this forum as much, if not more- you guys are top-notch, and the info you post on here is second-to-none. Trip reports, techniques, conservation, recipes & cooking, and just odd opportunities I would have never thought of. I can blame all of you for my obsession with paw paws, oyster mushrooms, and wild trout. And possibly a bout or two of frostbite from chasing winter smallies and trout. So a big thanks to Phil and the other mods, and to everybody here, for making this place what it is, and helping others enjoy this amazing playground I took for granted for far too long. You are one passionate bunch, and I'm glad you choose to share it here. See ya, Rob Greasy B, MOPanfisher, BilletHead and 13 others 16 WARNING!! Comments to be interpreted at own risk. Time spent fishing is never wasted.
MOsmallies Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 No need to stop coming around on the forum! Hopefully we can give you some good memories of the Ozarks and keep you up to date. Congrats and best of luck with the move and new job!
Bill Butts Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 You have exciting new opportunities ahead of you from your new location in Indiana. Call or go visit (Springfield MO native) Derrick Filkins at the FlyMasters of Indianapolis shop. All the best!!! Bill Butts Springfield MO "So many fish, so little time"

BilletHead Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 Good luck Rob young man! You have the whole world ahead of you. Please don't be a stranger and hey give us reports from your area. We all know this isn't the center of the world. Kind of want to believe it though . Norm M Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 Join up with the Indiana Smallmouth Alliance . There are a good bunch of guys that know the area well and multi species as well . Still places to hunt up there , some of those guys can help with that as well . You can also get information on outdoor activities from the Indiana DNR website . You have everything fishing wise from salmon, trout and perch on Lake Michigan and it's tribs to reservoirs to ponds with everything from panfish to some very good musky fisheries and any number of creeks and rivers with smallmouth, walleye and sauger . what a long strange trip it's been , put a dip in your hip, a glide in your stride and come on to the mother ship , the learning never ends
Ketchup Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 Good luck on the next life adventure. I moved to Missouri from NW Ohio and fished all over Michigan and Indiana as well. There are some good bass fishing and lakes in the northern parts. Lake Wawasee is one of those we went to several times a year. It's a shallow lake for the most part, but a good lake. Crooked Lake in the far NE is another lake we fished often. It's pretty small around 800 acres but the Lilly pads were a huge blast with frog fishing. Just above that is Lake James. Man this is getting my blood pumping for the memories of that part of the country. Don't "settle" for other fish when there's a lot of bass fishing to do there. TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.
Terrierman Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 Best to you Kayser. No need to be a stranger to the forum.
Norm M Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 Where you live shouldn't be a consideration in enjoying this site . You've had two guys from Illinois respond to your post. If SIUSALUKI is from the family I think he is, he grew up further north in Illinois than I did . I live near Kankakee Il , so geographically we are going to be about the same . Anything you want to know about adjusting to the weather and such up here, feel free to ask .
