trythisonemv Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 So planning on taking a day off Tuesday and hitting crane after the ice-pocolypse. Hope the rain brings the creek up some. Probably throw nymphs mostly and maybe streamers in some of the deeper spots . laker67, BilletHead and JestersHK 3
trythisonemv Posted January 16, 2017 Author Posted January 16, 2017 Tomorrow looks to be good and the creek sup a little and dingy which is about as good as it gets. Tied some new stonefly patterns I came up with. Will try to post some photos this time and get some of the flies I use in there as well. Johnsfolly 1
JestersHK Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 Good luck! Cranes on my list of places to get to this year... trythisonemv and Johnsfolly 2
Dkman Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 Good luck today, look forward to see how you do. I was hoping the rain would help the conditions there. trythisonemv 1
trythisonemv Posted January 17, 2017 Author Posted January 17, 2017 So rain didn't bring it up much. Put a slight dinge inthe water though. Managed to catch twelve today with biggest being 17inches. Most were small 5 to about 9 inch mark. Tried the new patterns but it is super low and stealth took priority. Most fish came on size twelve wooly bugger in olive. The rest went for black prince and peacock and partridge soft hackle. One on a black zebra midge. bkbying89, mreed81, laker67 and 4 others 7

Hey you got into fish under low water conditions. Congrats to that! Also this is a fantastic looking MCCloud river rainbow! I may have to get off the fence and head down that way to try for a couple before the end of Feb. JestersHK, trythisonemv, Eric82 and 1 other 4
trythisonemv Posted January 17, 2017 Author Posted January 17, 2017 Not in typical spots. They were in the stream flats along limestone drop offs way down from railroad bridge. A few were holding in big drop spot but very spooky. The creek is full of green slime as well due to the lack of moving water. Look for gaps in the slime and cast way down stream to just ahead of clear spot. Johnsfolly 1
trythisonemv Posted January 18, 2017 Author Posted January 18, 2017 New stonefly I put together. Going to use these on northfork of white in February. Johnsfolly, laker67, JestersHK and 2 others 5
Johnsfolly Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 That's a great looking fly. On your Feb trip as long as you can get it near the bottom of the river, those trout should tear that up. Good luck. trythisonemv 1
Dkman Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 Thanks for the great report and pics. I hope to get down there over the next few weeks. trythisonemv 1
