I have tried extra wraps and it broke the nano-fil, less wraps and it slips through. I am not giving u on it just yet, because I like the idea of having something a little more resistant to rock abraision but so far the Alberto and I haven't quite meshed up. And yeah I have tied it wrong a couple times and had it simply disappear like a magic trick when I tried to snug it up. Maybe I need to leave a little longer tag end or something I am not sure. I am prepping a od with 8lb Nano for some early walleye fishing in the rocks etc. and am going to try it again, but will cry crocodile tears if I loose a wally. I was having that issue until Ham gave me a lesson. I was forming the loop with nano and wrapping with the mono. I reversed the process loop mono/floro wrap with nano only one failure at knot in about 3 years use....but will give Lefty's a try. MOPanfisher Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 I do it exactly like the videos showed, wrapping the Nanofil around the mono, really irritates me that it works for everyone else but I can't get it to.
MOPanfisher Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 Son of a gun, that knot dI'd exactly the same thing the Albright knot did, looked great right up until it snuggled tight, then with a little extra pressure, pop it went too. I simply can't figure out what I am doing wrong. Knot looks perfect, snugs up and then breaks the Nanofil right at the knot, knot and mono are fine and the Nanofil looks like it was cut with a knife. Aggraving. Thught maybe the line was bad, even hough it is only a year or two old, compared to the 5 plus yr old 6# on the other rod that ties fine. So I tied it back direct to a jig and can hardly get it to break. Maybe I am not destined to run mono leader on my Nanofil. Ham 1
grizwilson Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 I had a rough patch decided the fluro was cutting it. Never decided if it was line or if was knot tying. Wish i was going to be up that way soon to help each other...hobbled up for now. Not sure which video you are using, i do push the knot together beforie pulling tag ends????? Sorry no help. “If a cluttered desk is a sign, of a cluttered mind, of what then, is an empty desk a sign?”- Albert Einstein
MOPanfisher Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 Well I haven't red pushing them together before pulling it tight, guess that can be next. grizwilson 1

dan hufferd Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 It's the double uni for me, I have had some fail, but it was my fault. I think I was over pulling when I lock the two knots together, I lock them together now with less pressure, now my trouble is over.
MOPanfisher Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 I ended up removing the offending Nanofil line I couldn't get to tie knots. I had my rods mixed up, it was the 6# which I have had on that reel for over 5 years, and simply wouldn't hold. that's the only braid line I have ever had go bad, but that one was my main crappie rod and spend an inordinate amount of time in the boat, in the truck etc, soaking up the sunlight. I replaced the line with what I had on had, which was some Power Pro 8# in high vis yellow, tied the Albright on a leader and it has been working beautifully. grizwilson and Ham 2
Ham Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 I love braid on spinning, but the added casting distance that I get with Nanofil makes the difficulties worth it to me. YMMV. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
MOPanfisher Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 As I have said before I LOVE that nanofil, lots of distance, smooth, just didn't have any more at the house the day I decided to "fix" it. Ham 1
