Heck, I never even heard of the guy before he won this one.  I took what I thought were safe choices - Evers, Hackney, Powroznik, I guess I'll have to start swinging for the fences now, being conservative hasn't worked, picking guys with good history hasn't worked - I am running out of strategies.

Even th guys fishing against him didnt kno him from Adam for the most part.  Good to see these young guns keeping the older gents on their toes.   Like Poche said " I wish Kevin would retire".  Of course he said it in a way so that he wouldnt keep getting beat by him.

It's a total crapshoot. You can take some educated guesses but in the end you never know who is going to do well in any given event. Kinda like in real life fishing, you can go from hero to zero pretty quick and the other way around. Brandon Card on Day 1 of Ross Barnett was the leader. Said he just had a magical day where every spot he went to the first few casts he popped a 3-5lb fish. Had that 22+lb bag day one. The next two days he was below average because he didn't "luck" into some quality fish. There is NO WAY one can predict that kind result in fantasy fishing.

I also took Chris Lane out of pool E as I figured Ross Barnett HAD TO BE HIS SLUMP BUSTER. NOPE. His sucking continues. Someone that is not getting beat up on for his poor finishes thus far, and I think is MORE shocking, is AMart. Guy is as good as anyone in the sport and he has REALLY struggled this year for whatever reason. He's too good to be 60th in the AOY race.  You can't tell me that half the Elite field, including Boyd Duckett (58th in AOY), are better fisherman than the Hog Snatcher, Aaron Martens.

Yeah A-Mart has had a bad year, I think last year was a bit of a struggle for him also.  Year before last he won AOY and seemed to always be a threat.  Sure hard to say what is up with him.

Starts tomorrow morning actually.  5 day tournament.  Make sure your team is good to go tonight!

For clarity, it's still a four-day tournament. Saturday is fan day ... no fishing. Winds up Sunday.

I was wondering how this thing was working.   Not much info readily available on the BASS website.

I know it, moguy. I had to dig to find it. Seems they'd make the format info more readily available, especially when it's different than the normal four-day Elite Series event.

In my days of journalism, which wasn't that long ago, we'd have done a highlight box within the article that gave the dates, launch and weigh-in times/places, and a brief description of the format.

Of course, we also published the news plain and clear (just the facts, maam) and let the readers form their own opinions instead of spinning things whichever way we wanted them to feel about it.
