fishinwrench Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 This is the result of an owner who after terminating the VRO system on his 115 Evinrude and switching to mixed fuel, he didn't realize that 16oz. was a pint, NOT a quart. Piston ring seizure from carbon buildup. You can see the heavily baked on oil deposits on the bottom side of all pistons. I figured this would be helpful info for anyone that thinks "extra oil is a good thing". 50:1 (1 pint per 6 gallons) is actually more oil than any 2S outboard engine needs.....So don't go adding extra splashes and thinking that your "safer that way". ? Daryk Campbell Sr Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 Thanks for the heads up. Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. The "too much oil" certainly didn't hurt the cylinders, connecting rods, or crank. The block won't even require any machine work, just a fresh hone and all new pistons. Bass Yakker 1
