I think there is some genetic mix there... Mostly spotted bass though. I didn't realize how many Kentucky's we have now in Missouri.  Only ever caught one personally.

This is something we live with on the middle to lower Meramec....around the Bourbeuse confluence seems to be the hotspot

I hear rumors of a state wide 12" MLL on spots in resevoirs.  I don't really know that it would affect me at all.  But if I was catching some 12 inch spots in the lake I would likley be seeing just how they taste with a little cajun seasoning or maybe spot/scampi.

I personally think the 10-12 inch would be the perfect size for frying! Young, tender and tasty!

But 18+ brownies from the Meramec do make awesome fried fish steak sandwichs! I can eat a dozen of those at a time!

I think it's a Kentucky spotted bass. The red eye and mouth doesn't extend beyond the eye. My dad caught a 8.9 lbs one at Stockton

I think she meant at Meanmouth... regardless, thanks for the post and descriptive image of a spot.
