I've coached, and have a varsity player at home, so I try not to point that finger at refs right off, but it was brutal. Just basic calls missed. The Arkansas deal was embarrassing. The Northwestern play. The SC vs Duke deal was bad both ways. Officials let that game get out of control, and clearly declared open season on Allen. A foul at one end, wasn't at the other, and a flurry of 1st half offensive fouls disappeared in the second half. Inconsistency makes it really hard as a coach to tell your kids how to adjust. Doesn't matter if it's called tight or loose, as long as it doesn't change. Simple fact is, these are 50+ year old guys trying to keep up with some of the best athletes on the planet. Think it is past time to add a 4th official. Oh well. We're out of banner space anyway ?. Unless we can rent a corner in Columbia or Lawrence to outsource our championship banner storage. Nah, sorry. I ain't "liking" that "narrative". Obviously another sore 2nd round loser. You'll never hear that kind of self promoting/pity out of a KU fan. Uh, wait a minute - what did I just say? Too many out of position calls being made, or calls with no sight line being made. When you watch a JV game with two refs immediately followed by a V game with three, there is an obvious difference in the accuracy of things like travels, out line calls, closely guarded counts. Where I disagree is that so many of the calls are a combination of the ref being "right there" where it's impossible NOT to see and all of the calls where the guy is completely screened off from the play but blows the whistle anyway as if he has X-ray vision and then, the worst of all worsteds, when the guy comes running over from 40 feet away to "correct" the guy that had the play right in front of him. In my limited time as an official (and anyone who ever saw me call a game would agree that I was without error EVER) my philosophy was always that you can't call what you didn't see. However, these guys make calls based on player reactions which is mostly rehearsed in practice - the flop, the head flying back, the "ahhhhhhhhh", he killed me please someone call 911 bunch of crap. You'd think they'd be able to keep up with the coached shenanigans and either ignore them or penalize them. abkeenan and Champ188 2 "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups." From what I'm hearing you guys are now a LOCK for the Final Four next year. Probably will win it all. Quit living in the past! Some of their other players, well, not so much. Turning into Switzer's OU out in Lawrence. Lucas? Svi? Coleby? Big 12 All Academic. Tyler Self also but I'm sure most would say he doesn't really count. "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups." George Carlin "The only money ever wasted is money never spent." dtrs5kprs Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 Only guys who play count. Of course at KU, increasingly the guys who play, can't count. Except for chicken scratches on cell walls.
Hammer time Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 I thought this was a fishing forum! Wow, I guess I joined to read about golf, basketball and seems almost anything these days. Check out the Stockton or other lakes on here, pretty much about fishing! I guess I'll have to weed through all the offbeat stuff or simply move on. I remember when this site was "almost" exclusively about fishing!
edyer Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 You guys love your basketball. How about those Wolveriines??????? dtrs5kprs 1

We are a friendly bunch here who enjoy normal daily banter. The theme is definitely fishing but other subjects may arise. Chill, man. March Madness is called that for a reason. Lots of people talking about it everywhere. tho1mas, abkeenan, dtrs5kprs and 2 others 5
