Ketchup Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 Replaced the trolling motor this past weekend, and had a guy come look to buy my old one. He drives up from Forsyth this evening. Likes the unit, and before he pays, I said " I just took this off the boat and I know it works as it should, but for peace of mind, I want to show you it works". He obliged and so I had a spare battery sitting next to it. I hooked up the red to positive, and black to negative "took plug off to put on new motor". Hit the button, and nothing. Dead battery I thought. Lifted it up and onto the rear deck of my boat. Popped open the battery compartment, again hooked up red to pos. and black to neg. This time I kno it's going to spin as my boat batteries are charged. Had the guy hit the button as I held the wires, and nothing. Hmmm, I thought, I just took this off the boat and knew it worked. After a few minutes of looking for a reset, loose wire, anything, the guy said if I got it figured out that he would come back and buy it. Well I called a buddy on this site, and ran by my delima. He didn't know what it could be. Well about an hour later, Andy calls back and said " you know what, that's a 24 volt system". Duh, and I call myself a boat guru. crazy4fishin, Daryk Campbell Sr, vernon and 7 others 10 TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.

Quillback Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 I sold a TM a few years ago, the buyer met me at a grocery store parking lot, he had a battery in the trunk of his car, TM ran fine off his battery and he bought it.
Smalls21 Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 at least you got your NEW trolling motor installed!!

That was a 24 volt hooked to a single battery? TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.
