Al Agnew Posted March 28, 2017 Author Posted March 28, 2017 I forget the name of this one. Definitely a South Bend lure. They did several different variations using the Bass-oreno body shape but with different hook and line tie systems.
Chief Grey Bear Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 I was told they used these up north to troll for walleye. ozark trout fisher Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 I was told they used these up north to troll for walleye. Those look less like fishing lures and more someone attached treble hooks to a pair of ear-plugs.
Chief Grey Bear Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 Actually they made a size bigger than this also. Al Agnew Posted March 31, 2017 Author Posted March 31, 2017 X Wrench's fish trap made me think of this wicked little tool. It's a frog grabber. And it's powerful enough that I wouldn't want to get my hand caught in it. BilletHead and fishinwrench 2
BilletHead Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 Got one of those Al and it works well . It isn't as sharp pointy as yours is. I like it because it does not kill the frogs. I put them in a mesh bag and throw in a bucket in a spare fridge. The cold frogs will be ready to knock in the head and clean in the am. fishinwrench Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 I really miss froggin'. My mom loved frog legs more than anything, and every year just before the 4th of July we'd go get a huge mess. Mom would get all liquored up, spread newspaper on the kitchen floor and wait for us to get home. We'd walk in all muddy and stinking, and there she'd be sitting cross-legged on the kitchen floor drunker than a hoot owl with a knife and a pair of pliers. Good times! You can really only appreciate that if you knew how prissy and professional my mom was. She'd go full Redneck over a mess of frogs though. ? awhuber, Jason G, tho1mas and 2 others 5
MOPanfisher Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 O man I love a good mess of frogs, been several years since I have seen enough around to be worth going after.
Quillback Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 Went frogging a couple of times with my granddad, back when I was 10 or so. Went at night on the ditches in the MO Bootheel. He and a buddy would scull a john boat down those ditches, they were narrow enough you could gig frogs on both sides. I was too young to do anything but ride along, but it was fun for a 10 year old. They had those old smelly carbide headlamps to light up the frogs, you'd look for their eyes reflecting the light. And grandma knew how to fry those frog legs. Good stuff.
rps Posted April 1, 2017 Posted April 1, 2017 Oh my Lord. The pictures. Young boys with huge eyes. Stinking teenagers with drunk mommas. Fried frog legs. BilletHead, fishinwrench and Deadstream 3
