Got out for a couple hrs before golf. We hit pea/snall gravel banks and found them pretty well. My son caught 18-20, lost count, four keeper smallies and several close kentuckies.  I caught 5 with one large mouth keeper. The lg mouth came at the back of a small cur, in the center of it. The cut was 17 ft deep and we could make a long cast to each pea gravel bank while staying in the middle of the cut.

We threw swinbaits, rock crawler, shakey head w/craw. Caught every one on the Ned. They were in 10-12 foot and around beds i believe. Although we didn't fish beds, when the wind would lay down in could see beds in that depth. I didnt see fish locked on just cruising close to the beds.

I also spoke to the young men memtioned by Ben fishing around the Indian Point Marina. They were respectful but kinda in a "Eddie Haskel" way. An Indian Point Police Officer and marina employee responded as well. The young men were told where they could fish and to make sure they measured their fish. They admitted to being the ones there a few weeks ago. Again, they were respectful so lets hope all will be ok with that.

Nice report, and good job talking to the young men too..........even if they were the Eddie Haskell types........hopefully they got the message.

Thanks for the report.  Coming back down to that area in a little over a week, so good info to know.

Water must still be pretty clear in that neck of the woods if you could see beds in 10-12ft?

Good job adjusting from your earlier strategy, Big C. It's definitely a gravel deal during the spawn, then they'll start moving back to those 45-degree chunk rock banks and later on to the bluff ends and long runouts. When that happens, just look for Babler in his pretty new Phoenix and you'll be in the right area. :)

Also, thanks for talking to those kids. Let's hope for the best, or at least that they don't haul any more short fish out of there.

Thanks Champ, good info. I just looked a little too early at the 45 degree banks...

Schmidty- I've been coming down for years with guys from work, yearly deal for a week. Anyway, the water is as clear as I've ever seen it. Pretty cool for a guy used to Iowa mud hole fishin. :D I know it's said often but thanks to all who share info, makes time on the water more productive and learning new techniques  (Champ) is priceless!

Mike-thanks for the info as well. We found a couple more areas like you mentioned, bingo.

Motoman-hope i sent the right message to the kids. I tread lightly since not down here full time yet, don't want to make enemies. Firm but fair has worked (mostly) for 30 plus years, lets hope so anyway. Who knows, i may need their help someday. Thanks

Big C, thanks for the information. Sounds like your time fishing before golf was productive. Good luck hitting that little ball around the grass. Thanks for addressing those teens.

Thanks for the share - lots of great detail there. If a guy took what you've stated and Ben's report I think he'd certainly be headed in the right direction.

Of course seein's how it's pretty much a new lake every day right now who knows how long it will hold?

Regardless, that's the stuff I'm goin' with today until it just doesn't work anymore!

Thanks!
