Why don't you see more jet boats (inboard or outboard) on Taneycomo? When I moved to central Missouri jet boats are very popular up here on the Osage and Gasconade. Is it cost or just not necessary? Performance or just preference? Not saying I want them, but just curious as I would think they would have caught on more by now.  In my younger days I knew the lake well enough to get to the dam with the water pretty low and never damaged a prop or lower unit. But I always felt a little lucky after each trip up.

I've often wondered the same thing.

I run one. Tracker 185 with 175 hp sport jet. Uses a lot of gas and not really needed when familiar with the upper end.  See about 4 or 5 other tracker sport jets over the course of a year. Some gator jets, shoal runners, and others but the majority are prop boats. I would have to run over wade fishermen with the jet to get up any further than I can with a prop.

Yep, I once made the mistake of launching at the ramp just up from lookout one time. Even when the weathers bad there are way too many fishermen up there.

As others have already mentioned, it's not really needed on Taney due to the wade fishermen. If you need a jet boat to run a spot, the chances are pretty high that there will be wade fishermen there as well. If you ever see a bright orange Legend SS with a 150 Evinrude Etec jet down there, it's probably me.
