Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted May 11, 2017 Root Admin Posted May 11, 2017 Fishing last night. Using a white jig in white foam. Never saw it coming till the last second. I usually can dodge them but not this time. Thought for sure I damaged the lens but didn't. Makes a cool video... MSUFisherBear and ColdWaterFshr 2
BilletHead Posted May 11, 2017 Posted May 11, 2017 Dang! Good public service announcement. I have friend who lost the use of an eye due to a two ounce egg sinker. When the Osage was big one year he was cat fishing. Got his rig stuck in a willow tree. When he tried pulling the rig back it loaded the line and yep right in the eye! ,Thanks for the reminder Phil, BilletHead "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!" Quillback Posted May 11, 2017 Posted May 11, 2017 Just a few weeks ago I was fishing on Table Rock for crappie using a 1/16oz jighead with a swimming minnow. Got hung up, tightened down and gave it a yank, got hit right in the eyebrow, whacked me pretty good, drew some blood and I had a nice little bump. Didn't have time to dodge, happened pretty quick.
ColdWaterFshr Posted May 11, 2017 Posted May 11, 2017 Smack! Great audio. That would've taken your eye out for sure. Phil Lilley 1
snagged in outlet 3 Posted May 11, 2017 Posted May 11, 2017 I fish out of an 8' pond prowler and I had taken a work buddy fishing last week. He kept short lining the fish with the rod fully loaded and aimed at me. That crank bait didn't look good. I told him to aim it the other way or he's going for a swim.
Blll Posted May 11, 2017 Posted May 11, 2017 In a former life up north, used to do a fair amount of muskie fishing. I was the 3rd guy in the boat and saw a horrific accident involving a cradle landing and a crank bait hooked muskie. With the cradle, you're right at water level with a fully loaded muskie rod coming right at you. Fish came loose and the bait hit the cradle man right in the puss. One treble in the eyebrow, another under his eye. God was watching and had the middle treble facing out so it missed his eyeball. I'll never use a cradle and the longer the net handle the better. I never fish without eyewear. even at night I wear clear safety lenses. My sons think I'm anal but I've had too many bounce off my glasses to stop now. Thanks Phil!
grizwilson Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 I have a scar between the eyes, 3/4 oz broke my bolles but 7 stitches and I am still here. Glasses always... “If a cluttered desk is a sign, of a cluttered mind, of what then, is an empty desk a sign?”- Albert Einstein
