Fished from 8:30 to 1:30 today. I was seeking walleye and found none. I avoided a skunk with an accidental largemouth keeper.

The lucky part? I hit a floater while traveling a hair more than 30 mph at 5000 rpm. The log thumped the boat bottom and knocked the lower unit up some. I immediately shut the motor down and did some inspecting. No apparent damage to the prop and the tilt/trim works well. When I restarted the motor, it sounded smooth and when I put it in gear and applied power, I got the same predictable acceleration and the GPS tells me the same rpm's produce the same speed as before.

Even better, the floater did not tear up my transducer.

Be careful out there! I was paying attention, but still did not see the tiny amount of the log that was visible.

Thanks for the report and I am glad to hear everything turned out ok with your boat. I sure would hate for you or anyone else for that matter to damage the old fishing boat.

I would say someone was looking out for you.....

Glad your ok and the boat motor with maybe only scratches. But the first ones hurt the most. When I purchased my boat the first trip was to a walleye tournament and my partner said he would drive his truck and pull the boat it was dark and we headed to the lake and ended up on a new chipped road with no mud flaps. I should have looked or asked. Many small chips in the hull on that trip.
