Has anyone else noticed any unusual amounts of whites being found dead? Several people have told me that they have seen a lot of dead whites floating and I noticed some myself this weekend.

Viral hemorrhagic septicemia (VHS)

I think Stockton Lake had a big white bass kill in the 80's like that

MONKEYS? what monkeys?

I noticed a few floating a little over a week ago. I hope we are not going through another white bass kill.  They just started coming back good last year from the last die off.

Pomme had the best population that I had ever seen until about 2008 then there were none.  I'd sure hate to see that happen again.  They are so much fun to catch.

There were some when the water first came up, but haven't seen any recently, or at least not enough to concern me.

Seen maybe 6 Saturday in different areas. Yea i hope that dont die off again. Used to be a fun day up by Cave Hole catching triple numbers during the run.

Yep and as they get bigger it gets more fun.  Many a sucky day has been saved by white bass action.

I talked with a conservation agent about this today. He said the algae growth depletes oxygen and the white bass are normally first ones to go. He said the agent who retired told him it goes through a 3-6 year cycle of this happening.
