MOPanfisher Posted June 30, 2017 Author Posted June 30, 2017 That would be a tasty if unusual combination, sure would make for some textural differences. Maybe the rain last night will pop some up, or Al least my yard crop of boletes. BilletHead 1

BilletHead Posted June 30, 2017 Posted June 30, 2017 A win in BilletHeadVille, They are just peeking through the leaves here. pretty neat as the little stem worms/maggots have not infested them yet. Don't care what you say if you have eaten the larger ones you have ingested some of these pests. I know we have but just considered it more protein . Found some witches butter. Want to try it but it is not enough and how the heck do you fix it? https://nature.mdc.mo.gov/discover-nature/field-guide/witches’-butter There was one lonely chestnut bolete. I have seen a few before but only one here and there. Got positive ID on them last year. I told myself I was going to try one someday. Today was the day for that, Got the mushroom brush and brushed off the dirt. Got a bit of butter hot and slightly sizzling. Tossed in the little bolete for a sauté , A little browning, . Darned good tasty treat. If I ever stumble on any more they will go into the bag or shrooms basket , BilletHead MOPanfisher, trythisonemv, ness and 2 others 5 "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!" BilletHead Posted June 30, 2017 Posted June 30, 2017 Pretty good pairing if I say so myself . Yellow squash and chanterelles sautéed in butter S&P served over toast, Enough for two and all eaten by me of one . If Mrs. BilletHead comes home from work in a good mood and I find another squash in the garden ready to pick I will fix this for her this evening. BilletHead may be in trouble when the Mrs. finds out I went shrooming without her today! You need to find you a chanterelle patch friend . And a hen patch, and an oysters on some trees, and some chestnut boletes scattered around, and some oh well you get the picture . This will make you forget all about peas and your deck! Stein Posted June 30, 2017 Posted June 30, 2017 I'd be scared to pick and eat anything other than a morel. I'd surely pick the wrong thing and die or worse. trythisonemv 1

There are no old bold mushroom hunters Stein, Lots of books and reading and questions to those who know things about fungus.
