@BilletHead thank you so much.  Just trying to learn some good places.

Where did you go out there?  If you caught cuts, more than likely you were at Strawberry.  Did you make it out to the Green by chance?  I lived about 20 minutes from the Provo.

I wish I could send you to some good places but my closest cold water fishery is Bennett Springs. It is a trout park and some nice fish can be caught there at times. The river below it is the Niangua. There is a lot of guys and gals on here that know some about that river and what it has going for it. Then as mentioned we have the tail water from table rock lake, Taneycomo.  Explore this collection of posts on this forum. I live two hours and forty five minutes from both places but do not fish them much anymore.

Did not fish the Green this trip but have a few years back. No on Strawberry. Here is a link to our trip posted here on Ozarks Anglers Forums,

Nine pages to read through. I bet you may of been to some of these places.

Lots of info all over this forum on places to check out close to you. Lake Taneycomo might be worth spending some time on over the next month or so. Welcome to the Ozarks.

Several Tailwaters are close. Below Beaver, Taney which is below Table Rock, and the White below Bull Shoals.

Couple of trout parks, Roaring River and Bennett Springs.

Crane Creek is a small stream with some beautiful wild bows.

The Niangua is up by Bennett Springs but has a lot of good fishing in it.

And my favorite, North Fork of the White is southeast. Doesn't have the best wading opportunities but it's a beautiful place with some nice fish.

And like has been mentioned, fly fishing for the warm water species is a ton of fun. You can go just about anywhere around here and get into some Smallmouth on the fly rod.

There are some nice brown trout swimming below the trout parks like Roaring river and the Current. Don't be hesitant to travel. There are fine fish to be caught in the wild trout streams around the state. Flysmallie mentioned Crane creek. If you can take a weekend try Barren Fork, Spring or Mill creeks. Very wary but tough fighting fish in often challenging tight waters.

Good luck! Can't wait to read about your successes or near successes fishing Ozark trout waters.

Nope, not much around there at all:lol:

Hey Smithsfans68.  I hope you now understand my initial post.  After thinking about it I though it might be interpreted the wrong way.  I wish I lived as close to good trout fishing as you do.  And the guys on here will help you out.  Flysmallie outlined your trout options pretty well.  Good luck and let us know how you do.

Most people here will be really helpful - but it's up to you to narrow down what you expect from where you go.  For Trout I usually split my time between Taney and Crane - Taney for the bounty of both size and numbers - and Crane to keep me humble - the fish are there but you will have to work for them - and then every good one you will always remember.
