Ozarks Chillbilly Posted October 20, 2017 Author Posted October 20, 2017 Preparing a large arsenal of leechs for this weekend. A variety of small leechs size 6 and 8. Will continue to experiment with colors. But my prized creation is the articulated leech which I am naming the "Organized Chaos Leech". Ozarks Chillbilly Posted October 31, 2017 Author Posted October 31, 2017 Mixing up some dubbing for some interesting blends of leechs. And one random UV minnow. Live count (10/19/17) : Streamers lost to Taneycomo's Giant Squid = 12

Finding it the right length is a challenge, it’s usually too short. There are guard hairs and under fur to deal with too. "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
Ozarks Chillbilly Posted November 10, 2017 Author Posted November 10, 2017 Tying some baitfish for trip to FL. Happy with the shape but I can't figure out how to get eyes on them without squishing the head in.. Live count (10/19/17) : Streamers lost to Taneycomo's Giant Squid = 12
fishinwrench Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 I don't think it matters on that style baitfish pattern. I honestly don't understand the popularity of those. They have no action whatsoever and tow through the water like a snagged leaf. Just any old thing with eyes on it does not a good fly make.

I agree. There's got to be a reasoning behind the popularity of these EP style flies though. Only one way to find out.. I will test in a little over a month. fishinwrench Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 I think the popularity is in how well they cast. Usually used on blitzing stripers and stuff where the most important thing is getting a fly in front of them quickly. Kinda like a Deciever which truly has no tempting qualities but can be cast a 60-70 feet with ease. Sometimes the fish will eat anything that moves as long as you can put it in their face when they are all fired up.
Flysmallie Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 I'm not a real fan either but they work. Especially in the salt.
