Members BradVan Posted September 26, 2017 Members Posted September 26, 2017 Will be staying in Aunt's Creek October 3-6 with my wife. Any ideas on catching fish in that area about that time of year? Don't have the biggest or fastest boat, but would run 10-15 miles. Mainly would just like to see my wife catch a few. Thanks.
rps Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 In the words of Techo, a respected member from the past, "Nothing to see here. Move along." He guarded it because the area contains good fish year round. I suggest you stay current on success reports up to the day of your trip and apply the techniques and cues to what you see. This forum is noted for giving away too much information. BTW, all of us would really enjoy a post about your successes or failures. Have a great trip! magicwormman, dan hufferd, Donna G and 4 others 7
cheesemaster Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 I don't fish that area all that much, but looking at the forecast and knowing what cooler weather usually brings this time of year I would suggest a few baits. I like a 1/4oz spinnerbait with the skirt trimmed up some. A shallow squarebill Crankbait and my favorite thing - a buzzbait. A jig is always a must and I throw a straight worm a lot. Fish should be moving shallower, not sure they will be in the back of coves yet or not. Like rsp said - keep reading the reports and I suggest watching Eric Pray and Pete Weners video reports, good information with every report. magicwormman, Seth Clarkson, evilcatfish and 1 other 4
SplitG2 Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 YouTube search for the Focused Fishing and Pete Wenners video reports, like Cheese said. A deeper dive on this forum for Babler and Merc will provide great insight as well. Report back with what works and what doesn't and you may be rewarded with additional info. Good luck and enjoy regardless. vernon 1
techo Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 As I own Aunts Creek it is closed to most folk! Purchasing buckets of purple paint as I speak! You are welcome however. While I stay up on the reports, I don't type much as I had been working a job that didn't allow me to fish as much. I am back in the saddle a bit so to speak. Watch the reports. They will tell you where to look, depth of presentation and sometimes even speed of retrieve. Transition banks, swing points, etc. The cool thing about putting in at Aunts Creek is you can find almost any type of structure or bank without going to far. I can find almost anything I need from Point 9-13. You wont need to go far! Jackson Hollow is always good for something! On a side note it isn't talked much on here any more but I put the grandkid in the back of the boat dragging a fish doctor on a Carolina rig and always seems to catch something no matter the time of year. Donna G Posted October 1, 2017 Posted October 1, 2017 Hey, Techo. Good to "see" you. Since Champ188 and I know you own Aunt's Creek, we would never, no never (fingers crossed behind my back), EVER fish Aunt's Creek. Honestly, haven't been much. Working fulltime puts a damper on too much fishing or golf. Waiting for the good bite to start before putting up the golf clubs for awhile. Champ went Friday with Ranger185 and had some decent numbers, but nothing to write home about, he said. techo 1 Donna Gilzow Bella Vista, Arkansas The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope. --John Buchan, 1915

The boss asked me to play on his four-man tournament one day. He wont do that again! You and Champ have permission to fish Aunt's Creek! Meet ya there for sammiches. Donna G Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 We would love to meet you and your lovely wife for another picnic on the water. It has been too long.
