The stretch of the Salt from Florida down 6-8 miles (old Joanna bridge) was awesome. Many good memories from before I was old enough to fish it alone. The old boys that ran that river were bad to the bone! Chuck Norris is a pansy compared to what I remember of those guys. I wish a could have seen it, what a waste. His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw. He becomes captain of the Greasy Bastard, a small ship carrying rubber goods between England and Burma. Michael Palin, Terry Jones, 1974
WeekendWarrior Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 Here is a pict of the winners bag for our club tourney from this past June. We had not fished there for several years but everyone in club caught fish and its close to St.L so I am guessing we will be back next year. Fishing is definitely tough and more of a spot specific lake but does have some good fish to be had. Daryk Campbell Sr 1
Haris122 Posted May 23, 2018 Author Posted May 23, 2018 Anyone been there recently. I didn't make it up there at all last year, but am hoping to this year at some point. Daryk Campbell Sr 1
Members Brandon Spriggs Posted May 24, 2018 Members Posted May 24, 2018 I have been twice so far this year, but plan on making several trips now that I've gotten my boat back on the water. My first trip was to fish a crappie tournament, which I won, with a weigh-in of 9.5 lbs on my best 10-crappie. I was able to get on them while they were spawning against the banks and once I found a presentation they really liked, I was catching crappie almost every cast using a jig - I didn't touch a minnow, which is typically favored for larger crappie in MTL. Then I went again last weekend primarily to check out a few new spots pinned on my Navionics app.. The crappie had moved away from the banks, but were still active if you knew where to find them a bit deeper, not quite summer pattern though... Using my jig, I started nailing bass around downed timber where the crappie were previously spawning, catching several over 12" but no lunkers. My next trip, hopefully next weekend, I will be focusing primarily on bass and will write up a report on what I find. Daryk Campbell Sr and Haris122 2
