Seth Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 Mosmallie's also won an early bird prize. Some people have all the luck! We caught a lot of fish Saturday, but only weighed one for even 3 and fell short with 2.86. Yesterday was just brutal. I think we caught a dozen fish all day and half of those came behind one dock. I thought it was going to be game on first thing as we ran through the fog to get to the back of Little Gravois. We had the area to ourselves for the first hour, but the fish weren't playing. I figured we'd do well fishing topwater around all of the wood piles, but never got a bite. That pretty well set the tone for the rest of our day. I wanted to fish some main lake deep stuff, but it was just way too rough for my 1860 aluminum rig. The big cruisers were throwing some monster wakes all day long and we took on some hellacious waves over the front deck. The biggest surprise of the weekend was a 14" crappie that I caught on my chatterbait in 2' of water chasing shad. MOsmallies, snagged in outlet 3 and Mitch f 3
shrapnel Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 I missed it, spent a week in one of the worst countries I've ever been to (California) got home last night and walked down to the dock with a shaky head and trick worm, caught a 4 and busted off a biggun on a cable. Pretty sure I won the 10-11pm time slot!!! MOsmallies 1

That fish went a little over 5 on my scales so we ran to weigh it in, but only went 4.73 on their scales. She had a big ole head and was pretty long. Just didn't have a big belly. Took 20th place in the 9-11 am slot on Saturday. $190 so I covered my entry fee. If I would've caught her 10 minutes earlier I think I would've got 11th place in the 7-9 am slot. Ended up lucking into one of the early bird drawings so I won another $500 from that. It was a fun weekend! Met a lot of great people. Hydro 205, Pat Magee, Gavin and 1 other 4

Every keeper that gets caught there gets hauled to Coffman. No sizable tournaments ever happen at Gravois so we never get any new recruits. Any signs of White bass on the flats? I've been river fishing and haven't been out on the lake (with a rod) in awhile.
bjovan Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 I have to second what Warrior said. Day one we tried three times for a even 3 and 4 and missed by 2 tenths each time. 2.98 3.98 3.02 had seven keepers on the day. Sunday started ok had 2 keepers fairly quick and then struggled the rest of the day looking for a big one just was not to be, had 3 keepers all day nothing over 3 . I will say the other anglers we ran into were pleasant and everyone seemed to give everyone enough room. Probably because i was not around any fish! LOL WeekendWarrior 1
WeekendWarrior Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 No Money fish for us, biggest was a 3.48. Only had a couple keepers each day flipping docks so fishing was not good for me at all. I guess I don't fish well in crowds. Guys that came down we had a 5.02 lb for $500, 4.51 lb. for $225, 4.27 lb. for $175. We had great food, friends and fun. A big Thank You to fishinwrench for a boat diagnosis. If you are at the lake and have boat problem give Simms marine a call. Thanks Glen! slothman, MOsmallies, fishinwrench and 1 other 4
TRRANGER Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 Did they ever say who many anglers were fishing? Nice fish guys glad ya'll did well. My new lower unit is in transit and should arrive tomorrow or I would have joined you guys in the festivities.
Members RogueAgent Posted October 9, 2017 Members Posted October 9, 2017 Fished near the dam both days. I had a 4.24 on Saturday but it took a 4.26 in the 1-3 slot to get a check. Caught it near McCoy Branch Cove on a GP Yum Dinger rigged on a shakey head right on the bank after the sun came out. Outside of that fish, we caught six small keepers each day on the shakey head, one on the plopper and three on a DD14 chartreuse blue back. Headed to fish out of the back of the boat during the Costa this Thursday & Friday. Looks like back to back post-frontal blue bird days. Everyone we fished around were pleasant including the residents. WeekendWarrior and MOsmallies 2

I've always wondered how most would approach being a co-angler at this level especially when guys will probably be flipping and skipping docks because of the weather conditions. Best of luck and let us know how it goes! RogueAgent 1
Mitch f Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 Lost a nice fish under a dock, caught a 3.06 that I weighed in trying to get the exact 3.00 prize money. Had a fantastic time the whole weekend and enjoyed myself immensely. Thanks to MOSmallies for taking me out in his boat!!
