I've never heard of Swan Creek (call me a young buck) until today when a fly shop guy told me about some big Smallies being caught there. Looks like a beautiful place to fish. anyone have experience fishing there in the Fall? Would be looking to fly fish in general.

I'll check out the articles in this forum, but I'd love some general info about the watershed!

Thanks

Pretty high gradient and smallish watershed. It goes down very quickly after a rain and is a treacherous wade/drag. There are several areas that have long stretches of exposed bedrock covered with a slime/algae. Multiple falls onto bedrock. No much fun.

add in the fact that there are No USGS gauges. It's good when you get lucky and t)2 water level is right, but it's no better than the other creeks/rivers.

there is no Holy Grail creek/river that others aren't fishing in this area. Wisconsin or Minnesota maybe

If you see a bunch of guys in them spandex suits with helmets , kayaks and rescue ropes it is a good day to fish different creek.  It can be a bit sporty..... probably too fast to fish.

I used to live in Forsyth and fished Swan often.  Certainly some slick areas but don't remember anything that was what I would call fast water.  It's a timing thing, Beaver Creek always did better for me on whites.
