Ketchup Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 The weather leading up to the start of gun season 2017 is looking good. Saturday looks to be possible light rain, so im going out to setup my popup ground blind Wednesday just incase. Im not a gun hunter, but do it to be with my wife outdoors on her hunts, tho she archery hunts as well. This year im actually excited abut it. The land owner where i hunt "just west of Ava" text last nigt to say while out checking cows, they seen 2 bucks dogging does, that they hadnt seen before. That got me excited to go check cameras. So Wednesday will be blind setup and camera check one last time before us outdoorsmen get to feast on mother natures bountiful collections. Anyone else excited and prepared? tho1mas, Johnsfolly, JestersHK and 2 others 5 TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.
Haris122 Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 I work that weekend, but took the short week following that off, so I'll have all week after opening weekend. Excited and ready, but not quite prepared. Johnsfolly 1
ciRe Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 Was really pumped for this rifle season because I had this big mature buck on camera religiously. But I ended up getting him with the bow. Got a bigger one running around and has given me 2 opportunities to stick him but he only looks to be 4. Next year I'll try to get him. So this rifle season I'm gonna need a rouge buck to come through. Johnsfolly, JestersHK, BilletHead and 1 other 4
MOPanfisher Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 Wow nice buck! I get a little excited each year, but my wife likes to shoot deer from the covered blind I built for her, so generally I don't hunt them much anymore. On the plus side I usually help with Stockton Lakes deer hunt for physically challenged hunters. Kill was down some from years past, but plenty of deer around. A few decent bucks, one beautiful monster I saw in a field on the way to pick one hunters kill. Of course plenty of buttons and delicious sized deer. A couple days of smelling lie deer guts all day pretry well cures my blood lust. Hopefully my wife's season will be good, because when she does well life is pretty good for me too. Johnsfolly Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 Ketchup - I hope that you and your wife are successful. Harris122 - good luck next week. ciRe - that is a great buck! congrats! MOPanfisher - I've seen your wife's success photos and expect to see plenty again this year. Good Luck! I will likely head out with Livie and maybe my Betterhalf. We have access to only a couple of pieces of private property. The one property closest to our house was sold this summer. The others are going to be hunted by a bunch of other friends of the land owner and are 3 hours from our house. Though these properties have some of the largest deer that I have seen in the field while hunting, the prospect of camping just to hunt a possibly crowded area is not appealing. The area where I shot my doe is within city limits and we cannot gun hunt. So we will gamble on public land. Haven't scouted much and never know exactly how many folks will be hunting the same areas. We will likely go to an area on Saturday where I have taken several deer in the past but is getting more pressure the last couple of years. Mainly because I can find my way to several stand spots without needing lights. Then may scout out some new spots Saturday afternoon for a possible Sunday morning hunt. Everyone going out for rifle season be SAFE! Can't wait to see more success photos! BilletHead, ciRe, JestersHK and 2 others 5
Haris122 Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 Good luck to you and your daughter too Johnsfolly. I’ll be on public land as well. Johnsfolly 1
