Trout Addict Posted November 8, 2017 Posted November 8, 2017 I caught several big browns at night this fall . The problem is I'm usually alone and getting good pictures of them has become a challenge. Any suggestions would be appreciated. JestersHK 1

I've tried several things and this has been one of the best, imo. Being to big for my net, I used my boga to hold the fish and with my headlamp in one hand and phone in the other. A little over 7 lbs. KLiK and Johnsfolly 2

My next trip is scheduled mid December and I would help in any way I could. Tooting my own horn now, I caught 12 fish over 20 inches long this October and only 2 we're rainbows. It appeared to me the trout were extremely line shy. I assume because of the fishing pressure. This fish was caught on a San Juan. Set up - a 7 wt. TFO, 9 ft Rio 4x leader, 1 ft tippet of 6 lb seagur invisx to a weighted peach egg then dropped a worm brown San Juan with 4 lb seagur invisx maybe 18 inches, like and using the smallest indicator possible. I like the short tippet to my 1st fly so it keeps any weight I need from slipping. Most of the fish was caught on the 4 lb dropper fly. Also, I really like using an attractor fly (peach egg), because it seems to improve the bite imo and I end up using it as an indicator alot. Johnsfolly 1
MoCarp Posted November 8, 2017 Posted November 8, 2017 they sell holders for smarphones and camera attachments at most euro-carp supply stores....here is a video from my friend brain wingard also some other kit that would be great for browns is a cradle/mat even a keep sack to let the fish recover before you take a photo MONKEYS? what monkeys?
MoCarp Posted November 8, 2017 Posted November 8, 2017 here is a cradle bit large for most browns but if you land that 30#er you'll be set!.... MONKEYS? what monkeys?
Flysmallie Posted November 8, 2017 Posted November 8, 2017 Not trying to be a smartass here but if you want to take better pictures then buy a decent camera. Cell phones are great and all but they aren't very good cameras. Especially in low light conditions. As long as you use mediocre equipment you will get mediocre results. A camera on a tripod can be carried with you and sat down anywhere. And yes that includes in the water. Now you can have something that will take a decent photo of you actually holding the fish. It's no different than fishing, you just need the right gear and a little practice.

Thank for the info. That cradle is pretty neat. I'm a little worried out the size for waddling and sight fishing. It might work good when fishing out of my kayak.

I have supposedly the best camera in a smartphone going, pixil and it supposed to be compatible with any camera. It does take good pictures except in complete darkness. Maybe there's a sitting I haven't found yet. I also have a camera and tripod I haven't packed wadding and site fishing yet. I really don't know what kind of pictures it will take in complete darkness. I did buy a Simms backpack late October that has plenty of room to pack'm next time to try.
