DADAKOTA Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 A pair of mallard drakes sailed into our spread yesterday and stayed with us. I went to pick them up and was surprised by the coloration of this one. I first thought it was an eclipse drake but have never seen the blondish feathers and white feathers on one. This oddball was much smaller than the other drake. Out of curiosity would this bird count toward your mallard harvest or is it an "other" duck. Sent pics to a duck biologist who said it is a hybrid with a "park duck" of some sort. JohnP 1
Fish Bork Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 I'd bet that it would count toward your mallard count Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.
Basfis Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 Can’t go by what they hatch as. Looks like it might be transitioning to it gender of choice. tho1mas and Mitch f 1 1
jdmidwest Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 Mama was a slut hanging out with other trashy ducks. Green head and blue wing counts as a mallard in your quiver of 4 max. But it has got other genes. Mitch f 1 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
