Hey BH,

My shooting better get a little tighter group or squirrell burger is all that will be left. Can wait to run a tin down the barrel so it gets to its comfort breakin range. Hoping the nice weather the next few days allows that.

I dont think this 25cal will have an issue dropping one in its tracks. Its a hard hitter

No problem for sure. That is what my buddy up by Herman uses. He has shot and cleaned a bunch with his .25 cal. Out of his buckeye and pear trees mostly but a few also walking up his timber road.

Thanks for that info wrench. So 40 yards POI is what i will do Tue.  Its supposed to be nice and 48 out. I need to shoot more rounds before i sight the scope in but it was shooting 3" high and 3" right with those shots.

Considering stepping up to a 31 grain pellet for more kenetic energy before sighting scope in. That will knock my speed down a bit but will hit harder.

Almost pulled the trigger last night on a Hatsen 135 Vortex in 22cal. as im wanting to add the 22 like i mentioned before, but luckily they were out of stock at PA.  They did have a 30 cal. in stock.  🤔

To each his own, but I wouldn't go with a heavier pellet (the 31gr. is PCP fodder).  You really don't want to be below 671fps or your trajectory is gonna be like a "rainbow".  Misjudge the range by 4 yards and you'll likely miss.    Right now you're fatter on energy than you are on flat trajectory.  I'd stay with the 25gr. knowing you've got plenty of smoke out to 50yds. for fox/coyote sized critters, and a trajectory curve that is awesome out to 55-60yds.

Good points. Man i can tell you have dug deep in this airgun world. I warned ya at the beginning you would get addicted. The guys shooting heavier lead in the 25's say that their groups arent as tight, but the impact is far more noticeable. I guess if im getting a mix of good speed and energy then leave it alone. Us guys have a hard time not tweaking stuff tho.

That new rail mount i put on is perfect. I dont foresee any issues at all. The stop pin sets nicely in the hole to keep it in place.

I never get into anything half-assed

I definitely see a .25 break-barrel in my future, I'm attracted to the ballistics.  I tried to get the 23gr. pellets to shoot in the .22 but it's no good past 30yds., it just runs out of steam.

Of all the .25's I've looked into, the one you got is my favorite, so I definitely wanna know how it works out for ya.  One of the reviews made a big deal about using the artillery hold with it, and I hope that's not truly important because I'll never be able to train myself to hold a gun like an injured baby bird, or a pregnant hamster.  Some of those guys, although they are incredible shots, have crossed over the line into insanity.

I have tried to get interested in PCP's but there are a 1/2 dozen things that I don't like about them.   Looks, feel, and cost to operate being the main hangups.  Really REALLY like the nitro piston break-barrel guns.

I ask Wrench the other day how many of these pesky tree rats he has killed. He said none but proudly produce his limit of dead plastic Denos. I think  he is becoming confused.a bit.

I'm still experimenting with different pellets and seeing what I am capable of doing with it.  If some starlings show up I'll probably pick them off. I can only spare maybe 2 grays here around my place and I've had a dozen opportunities to pop their little heads, but I'm not that hungry and they ain't bothering nobody.  They can live in peace here, I like having a few around.

What really sounds like fun to me is rigging up a scabbard for my mountain bike and cruising the trails for some bigger red squirrels.

Messy but they eat lots of bugs.

I need to thin the sparrows out from the feeders.  They fly in and scatter the food all over the ground picking out what they want.  Nasty invasive species like the starlings.
