Members John Lynn Carroll Posted January 18, 2018 Members Posted January 18, 2018 I am thinking about buying a place on lake of the Ozarks. I would only be fishing and in hope of finding a remote area of the lake where fishing is good. I want my own boathouse and away from the tourist activities. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks John
Basfis Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 Do you have a desire to be near civilization and it’s amenities? edwards area is off the path with lots of fishing. “Town” isn’t near.
slothman Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 I’d say the place you are describing is gonna be way up the river somewhere.
fishinwrench Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 When you say "remote" then you've narrowed it down to the far upper Osage. The fishing is good if you are a multi-species guy, but if you strictly chase one type of fish then it's gonna suck more often than it's gonna be good. Something is almost always biting good up there (cats, whites/hybrids, bass, crappie) but unless you are constantly prepared to switch gears you'll be frustrated alot. If I lived up there I'd definitely want 3 boats, but if I was limited to just one it would be a big wide center console Jon boat. I have a realtor friend that can help you find a place if and when you get serious about it. Just shoot me a PM and I'll put you two in touch.
kjackson Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 We bought a place on the upper end this past August, and it was a good move. We're off the main channel over two miles and don't have the crazy boater stuff except a bit on weekends. During the week, it's almost like we're alone. I love it. I've yet to launch the big boat to do much exploring as the kayak fishing has been fair, and fishing off our dock has been very good. Add to that the usual fix-it mania that goes along with a new place, and I've not spent as much time on the water as I thought. However, crappie and catfish are abundant, bass not so much, and the promised white bass run didn't materialize this fall. Only duck hunting has been disappointing. I also have a good realtor if you're looking at the upper end. PM me, and I'll get you connected. Our realtor was a big help and became a friend after the deal closed. MOstreamer 1
Mitch f Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 I will hopefully be retiring at LOZ good Lord willing. Wrench and I will be tearing up the tourney circuit 😂. But I’ll only be there half the year. My wife wants us to be snowbirds and live in FL in the winter. I hope this thread progresses and I get a bunch of good info. Thanks for posting John! grizwilson 1 "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor

Members John Lynn Carroll Posted January 18, 2018 Author Members Posted January 18, 2018 Thanks for everyone's response. I have no desire to be close to all the amenities. I did see some property on the internet that was located in Edwards which led me to posting my question. I live in Colorado so I really do not know much about the lake. If I can find a place somewhat remote and good fishing that would be great. I will continue to check on any additional posting. I am waiting for one of mine fix and flips to sell and then I will be looking for a realtor. thanks-john

She’s younger and has way more energy than me. I think I could get into the seafood down there too! 😂 grizwilson 1 "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
WeekendWarrior Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 All I can say is you will be looking for awhile, there is a ton of junk and looking to live hear full time requires you to think about Road access in winter as well. We love living at the lake in the Osage Beach area around all of the amenities and have everything here as in a big city but if you want to get away it is just a short drive away. Being less than 3 hours from StL and the grandkids is also manageable as well. Blazerman and MOsmallies 2
