she is working and just got a raise.

So now you got her a job and she won't have any time to load up the boat or to  haul it either. Nothing gets in the way fishing like a job. After work them old feet will hurt too much to even drive you down to the lake.

You be better off to look for a gigging partner who already has a boat and can drive.  Ya got til September to get partnered up.

If you're capable of doing quality work, a boat can be a decent investment.  Buy them used, fix them up RIGHT, use them awhile, then when you come across another one that you like... sell the current one for more than you have invested in it.    I haven't lost a dime on a boat since I was 22, and I've never been without at least 2 of them.  Even the 2 that I lost in the tornado paid for themselves.

Whats a good starter boat for running skinny water? I need a beater boat with a jet outboard, steering wheel (I cant run a tiller due to injuries)

Can the tiller model be easily converted to a steering wheel?

I have a friend with a project boat. Its a 1448 Duracraft 1985 model, 25hp tiller Johnson outboard with prop 2000 model, I would need to add the steering console & shift cables, steering etc. then swap the standard lower unit for a jet drive. He might let me trade him for the rig. Its in pretty rough condition are setting up for 10 years. The motor was only ran from 2000-2007..

Arkansas only titles the trailer, MO will fix it for you.

A 1648 is the do anything boat.

A good motor for a 1648 isn't likely to be a tiller.  35hp minimum if prop.   50hp minimum if it's a jet.

I know this isn't a gigging boat...but I think this would be a good fit for you...

Would be stable...wouldn't have to crawl over benches...and wife wouldn't have to bring her chair

Looks like a crappie and catfish catching machine.

I hope you end up with another boat...sure beats fishing off the bank

Had two like it and sold them because they weren't Flat Bottom for the River.
