nomolites Posted February 16, 2018 Posted February 16, 2018 Correct. They were a bit cheaper a few years back..
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted February 16, 2018 Posted February 16, 2018 I just got new batteries this year, did tons of research and half of the ones out there are all Deka batteries with different stickers on them. I ended up getting the group 31 Fish Hunters at Ellis. So far so good. I was running them pretty hard pulling cranks constant trolling for 6 hours and they didnt die, that would be like 18 hours of bass fishing

The first set was a pair of 27 series Fish Hunter flooded cell and the second was the Everstart 29dc Wally Word specials. Both batteries run about $100 a pop instead of $200-300. I guess I just figured since I had to replace them, I would just go with the AGM's. Of course that was before I thought about the fact that I may need to upgrade to a more updated charger.... I looked hard too when it was time. in the end I just couldn't justify the cost. i didnt see enough value in upgrading. if I where you I'd first research your charger model and confirm if it will or will not charge agms effectively.

They are light, handle discharge great, and last seemingly forever. You can use a regular charger on AGM batteries, although I prefer using a pulse charger. I’d really be interested in knowing what your boat/trolling motor setup is. I might be able to get my hands on some medical grade agm batteries. If they work well for you, what size boat and what size trolling motor are you running? Do you fish all day with a charge? Can you fish a full day tournament with your setup?

I have a Minnkota 210 charger, which is what was available before the digital series came out. It says that it can charge AGM's on the charger itself, but the only Minnkota chargers that I have found to be supported for most AGM brands is the PC line up. Those chargers are nice but definitely aren't cheap. I've already decided I am going to just go with flooded cells this time around. If my charger ever craps out, I will then replace it with something that is better suited for AGM's and then make the jump the next time I replace them.

Under normal usage on my boat(1652 jon) I was good for 2-3 days easily. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
176champion Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 Here's a read of the differences between flooded and AGM. http://www.enginelabs.com/news/look-inside-batteries-difference-lead-acid-agm/ I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything! Bruce Philips
