You nailed it.   I wanted in....but I always end up kicking myself for committing to a swap.   So I am trying a different way of participation.  Instead of getting IN the swap I'll just harrass and pester the participants and receive the same amount of gratification.

Oh, I don’t think so. I’m sitting on a pile of sweet looking flies and you’ll just have to drool over the pictures. But, maybe you’re just the type to drool over pictures in lieu of the real thing. Lawdy knows there’s a whole industry devoted to you types 😄

Epoxy doesn't age like whiskey. Those syringes of it that you find at the store is usually pretty aged before it ever hits the shelf. Buy some good stuff and keep it room temperature in the dark and it will last. But when it starts acting different toss it out and get some new.

All I have to do is see a pic.....and POOF, one can appear in front of me, in the flesh.  In the fly tying industry that is.

If I could do the same in the other industry y'all wouldn't be hearing much outa me on a regular basis.  And I dam sure wouldn't be interested in swapping.

Couple things I’ve been wondering about on these poppers. I used Zap-a-Gap to secure the hooks in the slots on the pencil poppers and regular poppers. For whatever reason the glue in the regular poppers just wouldn’t set up. I wiggled them, and let them sit some more thinking I just needed to break a bubble or something. Finally, after several tries and a couple hours I just popped those poppers in a 170 degree oven just to see what would happen. After about 10 minutes they were rock solid but glue had oozed out requiring clean up. Any ideas what the heck was going on? Why one set dried fine and the other not is a mystery. 

Another thing: I used the Waspi Perfect Poppers, which are made of a hard foam. In the past, I used Zap-a-Gap to fill the slot, but these slots were pretty deep (deeper than I remember) and I wanted the slots to look good, so I read up and decided to use Elmer's Wood Filler. Well, it was easy to work with but when it dried is shrunk up into the slot, so I had to add it a couple more times. By the third application, it was such a thin layer that it didn't want to stick. They ended up ok, but not as clean as I wanted. So -- anybody got a better solution?

I use spot putty that is intended for auto body repair. It doesn't shrink like that wood filler will but isn't very inexpensive either. One thing that I have done before that to combat this is to really build up that area. Let it dry and shrink, and then sand it flat. Do it right and it won't shrink so much that you have to add a second helping.

Yeah, building it up makes sense. I actually thought I was doing that, but this stuff really shrinks. I think I'm gonna pitch it.
