waterpossum Posted May 6, 2018 Author Posted May 6, 2018 Found this up on the bank while bank fishing by the docks back in Greaser creek Thursday. A fellow there said he had found it wash ashore earlier in the week and thrown it up there. Apparently the picture surfaced earlier in the week on Facebook. I called and asked a Springfield field agent about it. One idea about it's appearance in Stockton Lake, is it came out of Fellows Lake during an overflow. First one I've seen since 1984.
MoCarp Posted May 6, 2018 Posted May 6, 2018 how the heck is a muskie going to get to stockton from fellows unless it was moved there?, me thinks a few where tested there...be cool if they did MONKEYS? what monkeys?

He was trying to feed on smaller fish. By the time we got close to where he was he was gone. We talked to a game warden, that was at the marina and he said they (fish&game) had stocked some muskie about 15 years before but, they seem to have all died.. He all so said that "one or two could still be in the lake some where". That was 32 years ago and I have not seen or heard of one since. So, if any one tells you that there never was any muskie in Stockton; tell them to find an "OLD" warden and get the real story.. waterpossum Posted May 6, 2018 Author Posted May 6, 2018 My first thought was someone maybe tried to bring one over from Pomme and release it. I understand that the watershed from Fellows does eventually find its way into the Little Sac arm. I guess your guess is as good as mine.
Flysmallie Posted May 6, 2018 Posted May 6, 2018 Fellows is on the Lil Sac. Possible but it’s got a few obstacles to clear.
Members jimalert3 Posted May 6, 2018 Members Posted May 6, 2018 I lived in Greenfield fro e 1961 to about 1981, MDC stocked tiger muskie in that period. I caught one about 27"• They didnot survey. zarraspook and Daryk Campbell Sr 2
MOPanfisher Posted May 6, 2018 Posted May 6, 2018 If one made it out of Fellows a good rain could provide enough water to make it there. Would be a rare thing at best I would think. I remember the Tiger Muskie and Northern too.

I do as well, a few would get caught well into the mid 80's price branch seemed to turn up a few on spinnerbaits, could be some minor spawning, it would be quite a feet for a fish to make it up from fellows, the water that gets pumped from stockton is the only connection to any springfield lake, its possible a few would get moved from pomme or fellows MONKEYS? what monkeys?
