Fishing RMNP and Estes park

On our way home from AZ, WY, and our Canyon trip out west we'll be stopping in CO so I can hopefully land a Colorado trout.  I'll have the family in tow so looking for areas where they can find stuff to do while I sneak off for a bit to fish.  Also any advice on places to stay around the area is appreciated.  motroutbum I sent ya a PM, as last I read I think you were still guiding out there? ;)

Thanks SiO3!  I will check them out.  Assuming a 9ft 5wt will serve me well?  I could also just break down and finally buy a 3wt for the smaller streams.  I've read that just about every stream off the roads will hold fish.  Pretty excited to get out there and hopefully can land at least one LOL.

You’ll probably never get into the YMCA at this point. Maybe next year if you join and get on the list.

Our favorite place was Cascade Cottages inside the Fall River entrance. Sadly they sold the property to the park and retired a couple years ago. Have stayed in condos along Fall River too—Creekside Suites a few times. Nice, right on the river, but pricey. VRBO is worth checking, there are tons of motels, and a KOA.

Thanks for the replies guys!

Ok, we did some planning this evening, we are staying the night in Silt CO so I'll be pretty close to the White River national Forest on that Friday.  Any areas around there that would be good?

That evening we'll be heading closer to the RMNP.  I have a few leads there on where to go, but any advice for around the Glenn wood springs / White River area would be great.

When we were in RMNP about 10 years ago I fished the Big Thompson River that runs down the middle of Moraine Park.  Great little stream and ended up with several nice browns.  Was drifting a brass bead head olive mohair leech that they were taking if I remember right.
