RSBreth Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 If I had to use mono on spinning gear I would be borderline suicidal. Superline is the way to go.
slothman Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 What are you guys thoughts on trilene mono? I’ve used it a lot for years and have been quite happy with it. Also, there is currently a rebate of $6 when you buy two spools. dtrs5kprs 1

Royal Blue Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 For mono I'm Excel or Big Game all the way. Sunline assassin or Sniper for flouro. I'm not out there everyday like Bill though.

Production cost on both commercials combined is less than you'd pay for pack of Zinkers. If they paid anymore than that to shoot those.....they got ripped off. That said, there is certainly some comedic value to Tak with his broken English delivering the punch line.
abkeenan Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 My 2 cents: I like Yo Zuri Hybrid for my spinning gear. I am also a line diameter vs test rating fact checker. All that info can be found on Tackle Warehouse. which makes it easy to compare/contrast different brands or even lines within the same brand. On the topwater front, I have been using 17lb Trilene XL for 20 years and see no reason to stop. I also use Big Game for other various mono applications like hard swimbaits and ploppers. PLine CXX is some of the strongest line I've ever used and it has it's place. Stuff will break your rod before the line snaps. But it is quite a bit stiffer than mono and even other Co-Polys.
Royal Blue Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 Have you tried the Yo Zuri Mainline Flouro? I want it to be good because it's so much less than Sunline, but it has a TON of line memory.
5bites Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 I just skimmed this but for easy math on metric to standard measurements take the metric number and divide by 25.4 and you have the standard/inches equivalent. 10mm/25.4= .3937” .3mm/25.4= .0118” Maybe it was covered already but I just thought I’d throw it out there to help some wrap their mind around metric line diameters. No standards bureau to test it out, so we have to trust what it says on the spool, unless you do the weight test like you did. I like Maxima, it is what I used for salmon and steelhead fishing on my spinning outfits. Still use it for cranks and top water. Same here, we used 6# and 8# Maxima salmon fishing for tippet on our whip sticks and really could put some heat to 15-20# salmon. It blew me away how much it could handle. Quillback 1
