Bill Babler Posted June 22, 2018 Author Posted June 22, 2018 Couple of things here. If your DSing a level wind Bo has a great methods. Most of us however DS a spinning reel. On marking the line, can work but the first couple of times you catch in the trees. “and you will.” Your marks are impossibly out of line. At times for clients I will do only one mark at the correct depth and I determine it by dropping it and watching it till I see I’m in the correct location. Smithvillesteve Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 One of these days i really would like you to take me out and show me. I have had the pleasure to meet you at the OA tournament. I wanted to buy one of your Falcon jerkbait rods from you but couldnt get down that way. My buddy Keith did buy one from you and he really likes it. Appreciate all the advice. I have a rather cheap Eagle depth sounder. Black and white, 5 inch screen. I use it to see dropoffs, humps, water temps. I got it set to inverted V's instead of fish. Supposedly that reads better. I can see balls of shad. But as for seeing large inverted V's suspended in trees and watching my drop shot get down to the correct depth, uhhhhh no chance!!

Members Randy Moore Posted July 1, 2018 Members Posted July 1, 2018 late reply but great report Bill - we have been using live night crawlers and catching 12 to 15 bass between 8:30 and 10:30 am. We are delayed getting to the water due to taking son Kevin to adult day care program each morning. About 1/3 of our fish are 2 to 2.5 pounds - all spotted. I have given up on the shallow bite for now given water temp. We are running into a lot of skiers, wake boarders, and jet skis which makes vertical fishing and staying in one spot an adventure as I'm sure you all can imagine.

Members Randy Moore Posted July 1, 2018 Members Posted July 1, 2018 I don't get that at all - usually there is more than enough lake available for them to avoid coming by in some cases within casting distance and yet they do it again and again with no regard. It also frustrates me to no end that other boats don't get the right of way thing went we meet under power. Over and over again I have to slow down as I have no idea what the boat coming towards me intends to do to avoid an accident. It's really too bad boat operators aren't required to take some kind of boating course before being given the keys to a boat. Bushbeater, mixermarkb, merc1997 Bo and 1 other 4
