Dutch Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 We fished between Cedar Ridge and Aldrich today. The farther up river we went the murkier the water got. We covered a lot of water with search baits and top water. I'm estimating that we fished between 4 and 5 miles of bank and timber. We caught 9 bass with 6 of them keepers. We lost 3 keepers right by the boat. If we only fished 4 miles then that is a fish every 2000 feet or so (too tired to actually do the math). Quality was good but the numbers sucked. The water temp was between 81° and 84° which is quite a bit cooler than last week. liphunter, gurzik and Quillback 1 2
MrGiggles Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 You ain't the only one. I went up last night, ran BB and crawler harnesses from Cedar Ridge to Maze on bluffs and points, and along the flats before dark. Caught a bunch of bluegills and a drum. Pulled cranks briefly and caught a small crappie and another drum. First drum that I've caught this year, actually. Stockton has always been feast or famine with me, and the 'pickins have been pretty slim for the last month. Not sure if the fish have moved further up the main lake, or the evening bite has just been lousy. Hawgeye 1 -Austin
Members sixstring531 Posted July 28, 2018 Members Posted July 28, 2018 We put in at CC at sun up and fished the morning up there. Caught 20+, all smallmouth with one Kentucky and maybe one of those was as keeper. Went into town for lunch and fished until 5 out of Mutton and in the Birch Branch area. I think we ended up with maybe 5 the whole afternoon, with one being a largemouth. It was HOT out on the water once the sun got up. I mean, make you really tired hot! I think the deepest fish came in 15-18, but the vast majority were from 1-15'. We caught them on black and white buzz baits, popper, whacky rigged senko, dropshot, rage tail menace, new maxscent power bug/creature (whatever it's called), jig and pig, Texas rigged worm, rage tail rage bug and spinner bait. So, basically we threw the kitchen sink and the lake gave up a few shorts! It was one of the tougher days on Stockton. Quillback 1
Dutch Posted July 28, 2018 Author Posted July 28, 2018 sixstring what is the water color up around CC?
Members sixstring531 Posted July 28, 2018 Members Posted July 28, 2018 It was very clear. Great visibility.
Dutch Posted July 28, 2018 Author Posted July 28, 2018 Hummm I wonder why the water in the Little Sac is so colored. It was muddy enough to leave a nasty line on my boat and motor.

Didn't even wipe the boat down just went by the car wash on the way home.
Dutch Posted July 31, 2018 Author Posted July 31, 2018 I guess I am a glutton for punishment. I am camping at State park and fishing for the rest of the week.
dan hufferd Posted August 1, 2018 Posted August 1, 2018 I recon big fish feed all night under a full or nearly full moon. I am not surprised that the morning bite would still be on. I am just guessing. Hawgeye 1
