Vegetation always this bad????

Any info is much appreciated. 

I am new to fishing Taneycomo and I am curious, is the vegetation/grass/weeds always this thick? Is it seasonal or year around? I know this lake produces big bass, but it seems impossible to get around all the green stuff. 

Are there any places to go to get out of it or any techniques you guys would suggest trying? I am hoping this stuff seasonal and will go away because I have enjoyed the lake.

Haven’t been down this summer, but I have had success punching, and throwing a frog.

What kind of vegetation is it?  Water willow, coontail?

Pondweed.  It varies up here on the upper lake from year to year.  This year is not bad, worse than last year but 2 years ago it was huge.  Fish love it - makes great cover.  There's tons of minnows holding in it around our dock - rainbows run in and out of it.

Learn to use it to your advantage.  Weedless lures - frogs would be good.  Mice?

bass are hiding in it, in our tournament a couple weeks ago we caught all our out of grass on a chatterbait.  gotta be be selective though, some of it is just to thick... Most of ours we were running out chatter above it and the were hitting it about a foot under the surface

I catch rainbows in the lower lake around it all the time.  especially with alittle current running they seem to just stay inside of it and will come right out of it like bass and eat a jig.  I think it gives them a current break plus cover to hide in and a lot of bait use it as well.
