MOPanfisher Posted August 29, 2018 Posted August 29, 2018 We have A10s over head pretty regular, I would never describe them as quiet! They are very easy to hear and identify, would be too late if you were their target but quiet they aint. They used to fly a lot lower until that little incident at Stockton Lake with the powerlines. Occasionally see/hear a B2 as they sound different, and once in a while up around Warsaw would see one version or another of the C130's. Only once did I get to see them streaming flares though. Have been in a couple of silos in KS that were sold instead of destroyed.

Yes Quite a place fellows and you remember as I do. Carl provided our local archery hunting club a place to gather make a range and shoot. We drew crowds from all over. "The Chigger Digger Bowhunters" We would Then fill the plastic feed sacks with heavy soil and stack them flat four to five deep. We hauled those full sacks all through the timber and quite a course. We built our own 3D targets and suspended them in front of the backstops. Before that I shot in a trap league on Carl's trap range. Carl moved the shop to Eldorado Springs and he passed. His Son Terry ran it until he passed from cancer. Then Terry's wife Terri sold the shop. Not sure if she is still around or not. It never was the shop it was in the country but more of a museum. I bought many a rifle and shotgun plus three handguns from the old shop plus endless reloading supplies. Terrierman Posted August 29, 2018 Posted August 29, 2018 I've got stuff from Carl's still in the safe. The prime example being a Ruger Single Six with box, paperwork, .22 WMR cylinder and a holster. Less some bluing that's well lost. Put a white outline rear sight on it, a lighter trigger spring and a set of Pachmayr grips. Took out a lot of small game with that revolver. I could shoot it. Many many bricks went through that barrel. A coon looking down from a rafter in a barn was in big trouble. Not to mention one in a brushpile or a woodchuck in front of one of my dogs. If I could only have one handgun, that one would be it.

Harry if i remember right there was a big auction company that auctioned it all off. Don't quote me on that I just remember guys talking about going. I am sure it would of been way out of my budget. Carl was a neat guy. One year myself, my cousin and a good friend were planning a bow hunt for elk in Montana. My cousin had it planned on two areas. One around Fort Peck reservoir. The other in the Yellowstone valley north of the park. If we went to Fort Peck Carl was going to let us use his pontoon boat. Take it up there and camp on the boat and use it to work the lake edges and hunt out of it like a base camp. We opted to all buy horses and go to the Yellowstone valley. Man this thread brings back some memories and we got it sidetracked. To bring it back I got a fly by while riding my horse. Really did, BilletHead "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!"
