Monday they wanted a 2.5 inch bait under a float almost dead still, Tuesday they liked the 3 inch bait swimming at 1 crank per 3 seconds. Tuesday they also preferred my bait doctored with a pink marker and Monday they bit the bluegill flash with no color. Sometimes they get keyed in on little bugs too and a little bug shaped plastic works best. Yep, half of crappie fishing is finding where they are, the other half is figuring out what/how they want it. May keep the same pattern for days, may not keep the same pattern all day.
MOsmallies Posted November 16, 2018 Posted November 16, 2018 I typically throw 1/32 oz tube jig under a cork. I'm usually fishing it in water under 60 degrees and they seem to like the slower fall. I will throw a 1/16 oz sometimes as well. For crappie, throw whatever color you have most confidence in and if they won't eat it keep switching colors or styles of baits. When corking, I throwing a black and chartreuse tube quite a bit. Basfis 1
Basfis Posted November 17, 2018 Author Posted November 17, 2018 Based on feedback I hope to run a few tests Wednesday thru Sunday. With a deer at the locker and a break from baseball with the holiday, it is time to stock up on fillets and scout ducks! Johnsfolly and top_dollar 2
Basfis Posted November 22, 2018 Author Posted November 22, 2018 Well, tried a couple styles. Based on the wind and depth, weighted clip on cigar type won the day. 1/16 oz jig head 18”-24” under. liphunter, nomolites, top_dollar and 2 others 5
