Its not spicy hot, it's temperature hot genoa salami sliced about 1/4" thick on great Italian bread with cheese and veggies of your choice. I always got mine with pepper jack, tomatoes, onions and lettuce with mayo and spicy mustard. ness and snagged in outlet 3 1 1
snagged in outlet 3 Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 My aunt Mary said it's the meat from the head. She brought one every Christmas to the house. Thick slice of onion and some mustard. MOPanfisher and Terrierman 2
Terrierman Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 The flavors and texture are just not something I've ever had anything even close to anywhere else. I wish I could go there for lunch today. Really happy to know it is still there and in good hands. I honestly thought it was gone.
snagged in outlet 3 Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 It's the best! I grew up on it. My Aunt Mary lived two streets over from them and my dad, when he came to St Louis lived 4 doors down from Amighettis. I'll have to get there this holiday season.
Terrierman Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 I took a job with Union Electric in the early '80's. Went to lunch at Cunetto's during the interview. Most of the guys I worked with had last names that ended with a , I , or o. Needless to say there were a lot of lunches in that neighborhood. Good times! snagged in outlet 3 1

ness Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 The Hill is a pretty cool place/institution. Been there a handful of times, but only for dinner at Zia's. Last time there -- about a year ago -- it was a little disappointing. On a float trip several years ago I remember Gavin brought a "King of the Hill", which was a new term to me. We've got a place pretty near where I work that cranks out darn good Italian sandwiches -- Jasper's. Terrierman and snagged in outlet 3 2 John

I believe that's a Schnucks Market house name. Can't beat Cunettos or Rigazzi's. Old school places that will never go out of style. Terrierman 1
snagged in outlet 3 Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 Central Grocery in NOLA rocks a good Italian sandwich! They use salami form Volpi on the Hill.
