I working on a learning curve. That being said, and I hope at my age I'm not being naive. But watching him in interviews. I wouldn't think he would not put his name on junk solely to make a buck. Of course that's just my opinion. Don't have much experience with the KVD jerkbaits but I do find the 2.5 and 1.5 square bills along with the XD series crankbaits do perform very well. From what I understand all the baits that bear the KVD name are the ones that he himself along with strike King engineers developed. I'm too young to remember Strike King square bills before they beared the KVD name but allegedly they're a complete rebuild due to KVD engineering, developing and testing on and off the water. Bill and some of the others might have more info but I think what I've seen on YouTube and read online is that the legend goes something like Strike King was falling behind other manufacturers, and as they were acquiring and merging with other manufacturers they were needing an edge and some fresh life and they found it in KVD when they signed him and turnedto him to help engineer most the hard baits that they put on the shelf today. Allegedly if KVD wasn't professional bass fisherman he could have been an engineer he has a very high IQ. I do know the new mega bass + 2 will get deeper than 12 foot on 12 lb fluorocarbon line, and even deeper if you play with it a little bit. magicwormman and liphunter 2
Quillback Posted February 27, 2019 Posted February 27, 2019 And it sure helps when KVD wins a tourney using a Strike King bait. Not that I get sucked in to the tourney-winning-bait mania, that never happens. LD Fisher, magicwormman, abkeenan and 1 other 2 2
Members CadeWompus Posted February 27, 2019 Members Posted February 27, 2019 I have bought several KVD 300DDs and notice that their profile is larger than the Vision 110. More along the lines of the Pointer 100 in my mind. They seem to suspend pretty easily with a little wire on the front hook. I do mine in a bucket of water iced down to whatever water temp I think I will be fishing. It is valid what others have said, though, about having line attached affecting how they suspend. I'll be down at TR several weekends in March, so I will have to give them a test. I have gobs of Vision 110's, but now the +1's and +2's, I feel like I am starting all over again looking at spending hundreds of dollars to get a selection of the latest deeper divers isn't too appealing! I can buy 3 KVDs for the price of one Megabass! liphunter 1
