We used to call it handicap access.  By Gully’s house.

I don't recall why, but back in the 80's , we referred to the handicap as " goats bluff". I think there used to be an overlook at the hwy.

Our first choice was always McCs.  That was the best stretch of water ever.

Is there still access to that area Pete? We used to be able to drive across the field and park near where the creek came in. I have caught some nice cutts in that area in addition to several nice rainbow. Kdan caught a big rainbow one day that we guessed at 13lb.

McClellands closed down a few years ago so no public access there.  It is a great stretch of water and the only access now is by boat or kayak.

More than a few years ago.  Worse day of my fishing life, seriously.  If you ever had a chance to go in their old boat house you would see the most awesome collection of trout mounts anywhere.  Must have been 10 mounts of fish and I think all were over 30 inches and caught right there.  Best trout water ever.  Not sure how it fishes on Min flow because I've never been back in there.

In the early morning we would wear out the upper shoal past the trailer and then head down to the field in the afternoon.  One year I went did 26 trips there.  Man I miss that place.

Stupid people would argue with John and Ruth insisting it was public access and refuse to pay $3.  They got sick and tired of it and shut her down.  I begged them to let me back in but they just wanted to be left alone.

I got to fish there once when it was a pay walk in area. Fantastic area. I hate that’s gone.

It was always pay to get in.  $3 bucks per car back in the old days.  $5 later.

Gosh, I miss the place too, I have lots of fond memories. I only fished it once since Mc, closed, we boated up on two generators and waited until the water dropped out to wade fish, it was wonderful but certainly fished different with min. flow. I could hardly recognize ace in the hole.

We floated down in canoes twice right after it closed and both times the water came up and flushed us out.  Two guys in a canoe with chest waders on with 2 units running is all you want.
