Has anyone been down there?  Has the debris settled?

I guided today out of Hideaway and fished up to School House.  Yes, there is some floating stuff.  Hard to see at sunrise.  Not a problem but I did wear my life vest.  Fishing was super good.  There is a fantastic jig bite on the James and I would think with that perfect James River water color that a blade would be a handy tool

Thanks Bill.  I am going in the morning.  I am going down this time.  I plan to start at school house and work my way toward Thompson.

Dutch just leave the topwater on the deck unless you see some chasers, as it is a super waste of time for me the last two days.  Start with that jig right in front of the bushes and fish it out to about 15-18 ft.  Longer gravel points have been the best, shad are everywhere up there mostly gizzards.

Might pay however if your frisky to throw a blade from daylight to 6:30 or so, but that jig is the deal.  I'm using a Pig Stickier Quick 5 1/2 oz.   GPO with a Smallie Beaver trailer and adding just a bit more orange to the tips.

Good Luck and let us know.

Thanks for the tip.  I will check my boxes and see what I can come up with.

Bill you're spot on with the orange on the trailer tips.  Even if it's a paca chunk or slim.  Orange tips are getting way more bites than anything else.

That orange tip must be the ticket.  I don’t have any.  I tried red but it didn’t work.  I only had 1 jig fish.  All the rest came on plastics.

My dad and I went to Cape Fair this morning. We fished from daylight until a little past noon. It was super tough with a LOT of junk floating around. It was extra tough for us as my dad hasn’t been in his boat in a while and although he charged his trolling motor battery, it was bad and completely dead as soon as we took off in the morning. 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Saw quite a few schools surfacing but couldn’t catch one on my spook. Had a few short strikes though. Kentuckys mostly, I think.

We caught a couple of jig fish and had a really nice one on that came off when he jumped (probably 3.5 to 4 pounder). The rest came on Texas rigged worm and shaky head worm. All short fish.

I would like like to apologize to whomever we ran off of bear den point. My father apparently has no manners and wouldn’t listen when I told him not to pull in on somebody else’s point.   White triton boat, I’m sorry for the poor etiquette.

It it was refreshing to not have to fight gigantic boats and waves in the daytime though. 😁

Bill I looked through my beaver stash and found the one you mentioned.  I looked through my skirt box and came up with a gp and another with some orange.  I painted the beaver tip.  Does this look anything like what you were using?
