Some of the stuff from ICAST 2019

Seems a lot Ned heavy this year.  And they seem proud of their products with the prices they are selling them for it seems.  $6.99 for a pack of Strike King Ochos cut in half?  Yikes.

They are definitely become no more proud of their products. The jigs I’ve been using the past few years were $5-$5.50 for a two pack. They just “updated and upgraded” their jigs and they are priced $4.89 for one. Basically doubled the price. They are good jigs, but now too expensive for my taste. I am getting close to just making my own. I almost started making them myself earlier this year, but I decided not to. This might make me reconsider making them myself.

So you guys, start your own website, buy packaging, pay your 10% federal excise tax, pay your distributors and retailers another 40-50%, then make a profit of a few pennies. Then have people female doggy about it. I suggest you make your own.

Or, just make your own for personal use and share with friends and family!👍🏻

You have something different to offer though Mitch.  Strike king is cutting their Ocho in half and selling it for a couple bucks more than the Zman TRD and its not even elaztec.

Well Tackle HD sold last week, so I don’t own a bait company anymore.

Funny thing is Strike King had an Elaztech type material a while back before the Ned rig craze but it never sold well. Maybe they made a marketing deal with Z Man

I hope the best for you Mitch.

Mitch is right. Use to make a crappie lure for about a penny or less for raw material. Packaging, excise tax, shipping, promotion, labor and whatever else got retail price around 18 cents each and still couldn't make much profit. Sold out! Good luck to anyone who wants to try it...

The other funny thing is that Elaztec product that Strike King sold/sells, the Zero stick worm, sold for less than a pack of Zman Zinkers for the same bait.

Mitch, one of the biggest fish I ever caught in Missouri was on the  Strike King version of a fluke in that Elaztech like material.  That was on a stream we both fish.  It might have been 15 years ago.  I always wondered if whoever held the patent for the stuff was making it for Strike King, anyway it seems to have disappeared.
